SUBJECT : MATHEMATICS MAXIMUM MARKS : 80

General Instructions:
(i) This question paper contains two parts A and B
(ii)Both Part A and Part B have internal choices

Part - A

(i) It consist of two sections- I and II

(ii)Section I will have has 16 questions of 1 mark each. Internal choice is provided in 5 questions
(iii) Section II will have 4 questions based on case study. Each case study has 5case-based sub-parts. The
candidate will be required to attempt any 4 out of 5 sub-parts.

Part - B will include 16 questions from number 21 to number 36.

 (i) Question No 21 to 26 will be Very short answer Type questions of 2 marks each.
 (ii) Question No 27 to 33 will be Short Answer Type questions of 3 marks each
 (iii) Question No 34 to 36 will be Long Answer Type questions of 5 marks each.
 (iv) Internal choice is provided in 2 questions of 2 marks, 2 questions of 3 marks and 1 question of 5
marks.

Part-A
Section-I –
NOTE: Section I has 16 questions of 1 mark each

1. If two different dice are rolled together, calculate the probability of getting an even
number on both dice.

OR
A card is drawn at random from a well shuffled pack of 52 playing cards. Find the
probability that the drawn card is neither a red card nor a queen.

2. Write the statement of PythagorasTheorem.

3. If cosec2θ (1+cos θ)( 1- cos θ) = k, then find the value of k.

4. Cards with numbers 3,4,5… to 50 are placed in a box. A card is selected at random. Find
the probability that the selected card bears a perfect square number.

5. The altitude AD of a triangle ABC in which  A is obtuse, is 10 cm. If BD = 10cm and


CD =10 3 cm find  A.

6. Savita and Hamida are friends. What is the probability that both will have different
birthdays? (ignoring a leap year).

7. If the sum of the zeros of the polynomial p(x) = (k2 – 14)x2 – 2x -12 is 1, then find the value
of k.

9. Find the largest number which divides 615 and 963 leaving remainder 6 in each case.

If HCF (26, 169) = 13, then find LCM(26, 169).

10. Two circles touch internally. The sum of their areas is 116  cm2 and the distance between
their centers is 6 cm. Find the radii of the circles.

OR

The radius of a wheel is 0.25 m. Find the number of revolutions it will make to travel a
distance of 11 km.

11. Find the perimeter of a quadrant of a circle of radius 3.5 cm.

OR

Find the perimeter of the protractor if its radius is 7cm.

12. Find the mean of 30 numbers given mean of ten of them is 12 and the mean of remaining
20 is 9.

13. PQ is a chord of a circle and R is point on the minor arc. If PT is a tangent at point P such
that  QPT = 600 then find  PRQ.

14. Two parallel lines touch the circle at points A and B separately. If the area of the circle is
25 π cm2,then find the length of AB.

15. Find the value of k, for which x = 2 is a solution of the equation

21. If the points A(6, 1), B(8, 2), C(9, 4) and D(p, 3) are the vertices of a parallelogram, taken
in order, find the value of p.
OR

Find the co-ordinates of the point which divides the join of (–1,7) and (4, –3)in the ratio
2 : 3 internally.
22. Find a quadratic polynomial whose zeroes are (2 + √3) and (2 – √3).

23. Draw a circle of radius 3 cm. From a point P, 7 cm away from the centre of the circle, draw
a tangent to the circle.

24. At one end A of a diameter AB of a circle of radius 5 cm, tangent XAY is drawn to the
circle. What is the length of the chord CD which is parallel to XY and at a distance 8 cm
from the point A?

25. Prove : (sin A + cosec A)2 + (cos A + sec A)2 = 7 + tan2 A + cot2 A

26. ABC is an isosceles triangle with AC = BC. If AB2 = 2AC2 , Prove that ABC is a right
triangle.
OR

In triangle ABC, BAC  90 0 and AD  BC. Prove that AD2 = BD X DC

 NOTE: Question No 27 to 33 will be Short Answer Type questions of 3 marks each



27. Prove that (3 – √3) is irrational, given that √3 is irrational..

28. In a retail market, fruit vendors were selling mangoes kept in packing boxes. These
boxes contained varying number of mangoes. The following was the distribution of
mangoes according to the number of boxes.

Find the mean number of mangoes kept in a packing box.

29. In the fig. E is a point on side CB produced of an isosceles triangle ABC with AB = AC. If
AD is perpendicular to BC and EF is perpendicular to AC, prove that Δ ABD ~ Δ ECF.

Name the type of quadrilateral formed, by the following points, and give reasons for your
answer.

31. State and prove Basic Proportionality Theorem

32. If the sum of the first n terms of an AP is 4n – n2, what is the first term ? What
is the sum of first two terms? What is the second term?

OR

The sum of the first seven terms of an AP and the sum of the first five terms of the same AP is 167. If
the sum of the first twenty terms of this AP is 970, find the sum of its first ten terms.

33. An observer, 1.5 m tall, is 28.5 m away from a tower 30 m high. Determine the angle of
elevation at the top of the tower from his eye.

OR

A kite is flying at a height of 60 m above the ground. The string attached to the kite is
temporarily tied to a point on the ground. The inclination of the string with the ground is
60°. Find the length of the string, assuming that there is no slack in the string.

 NOTE: Question No 34 to 36 will be Long Answer Type questions of 5 marks each.

34. A spherical glass vessel has a cylindrical neck 8 cm long, 2 cm in diameter; the diameter of
the spherical part is 8.5 cm. By measuring the amount of water it holds, a child finds its
volume to be 345 cm3 . Check whether she is correct, taking the above as the inside
measurements, and π = 3.14.
Or

Water is flowing at the rate of 300 m per minute through a pipe of diameter 21 cm into a
cubical pond which is 100 m long and 44 m wide. In what time will the level of water in
pond rise by 42 cm?

35. A triangle ABC is drawn to circumscribe a circle of radius 4 cm such that the segments BD
and DC into which BC is divided by the point of contact D are of lengths 8 cm and 6 cm
respectively (see figure). Find the sides AB and AC.

In the following figure, PQRS is square lawn with side PQ=42 meters. Two semi-circular flower
beds are there on the sides PS and QR with center at O, the intersections of its diagonals. Find the
total area of the two flower beds (shaded parts).
