Quarter 3 - Week 7a
Learning Context
Do you still remember the 4 basic shapes? Those basic shapes are the following:
1. 2. 3. 4.
If you divide 1 whole into fourth, each part is called quarter circle.
It is easy to draw things to show different shapes, but there is other way we
can do it.
It is through folding, cutting and using a square grids.
Look at the following examples on how you can form shapes using folding
and cutting.
This figure shows forming two triangles by folding and cutting from a
rectangle.
This picture shows forming two triangles from folding and cutting a square.
There are 2 ways in making a model of circle, The first way is by using circle
objects like coins, glass, plate and others. The second one is by using also the
folding and cutting method, but you will be able to get the exact shape if you
will be using the first one.
Now that you already know how to make circle using folding or cutting, I will
show you how to make Half and quarter circle using folding and cutting.

You draw straight line and curved line in a square grids to form pictures of
different shapes.
Learning Tasks:
Using paper, old newspaper or magazine, fold and cut the following shapes.
Paste it on your answer sheet.(Paalaala Ask the guidance of somebody in
using the scissors.)
1. squaer
2. rectangle
3. tringle
Line is formed from two dots connected from each other. There are two kinds
of line, straight line and curve line.
1. straight line
Straight line is formed from extending beyond two points without
curving. It can be horizontal line, vertical line or diagonal line.
Example:
2. Curve Line
A line that is not straight and is bent in other point that change its
direction.
A curve line can be a wave line or a spiral line.
Example:
curve line
wave line spiral line
Surface is the outside, upper and lower part covering the surface of a
three-dimensional shape.Surface can be flat or curve. Some objects can be a
combination of flat surface and curve surface.
1. Flat surface
Commonly drawn using straight line. Flat surface is fully covered by
another flat surface. It can be rectangular solid, cube and pyramid.
2. Curved surface
It has a rounded surface. Curved line is commonly used but straight
line can also be used like cylinder and cone.
4. 5.
