The source I picked is about helping children with learning disabilities. I picked this
website because in the class we are going to go to there are kids with learning, mental,
and physical disabilities. This article could help give me knowledge that could help me
better understand what we get to see in the classroom.
After reading this article, I learned a few things. When teaching this kids you need to
focus on their strengths more then their weaknesses. If they see that you notice their
weakness, they tend to close off and not want to learnanymore. You also need to keep
in mind that every kid has different obstacles when learning. Some kids don’t know
how to deal with these problems so its your job to go out of your way to help and guide
them when teaching. The last and biggest thing I took from this article was needing to
be a listener for the kids in these classes. Sometimes kids won’t open up to you and
explain what they need so reaching out can help them so much more then you would
ever think it would.
When thinking about the film this source gave me a better idea of what interview
questions to ask the teacher or staff at either DorissKlaussen or our school. When we
are taking pictures for the film and website I can now know what specific pictures to
take. For example, when the teacher is having one on one conversations with their
students and helping them learn.
