Reflective Activity: As a student, how can you help preserve and promote our cultural
heritage?

Firstly, as a student I can share culture's art and technology. Because each culture has its own
clothing, music, visual art, storytelling traditions, and many more unique characteristics.
Other members of culture will be overjoyed to teach or talk about their hobbies, their jobs,
their crafts, and what they do for fun. This includes traditional artwork you would find in a
museum, but material culture goes far beyond that. Even a kitchen spoon or a piece of
software is a cultural artifact. All those can help to promote the culture worldwide.

Secondly, I will attend or organize major events. Philippines country rich with variety of
tribe, religious denomination, or immigrant ethnic group almost certainly celebrate major
holidays or cultural festivals. Travel to these to get a broader perspective on preserve culture.
If you don't know of any groups in within area, organize own event as a method to preserve
culture.

However, each and every family got unique style of cooking especially come for secret
cooking family recipes. Nowadays younger generation losing the recipe of grandparents.
Since all can surf and watch YouTube on how to cook a dish. But, in reality nobody knows
that homemade cooks can’t be comparable to any other foods in-term of the uniqueness, the
taste and smell vary from others or restaurants. So, what we can do is learn it from older
people such as grandparents to follow or continue their recipe to make the family cultural
survived.

Next will be one of the most important element of preserve culture was, spend time with
other members of the community such as relatives, family and friends to ensure our culture in
safe hand. That’s the best way to preserve culture is to keep it alive. Because I believe that
communications is great key for make the community attach close, since, if the community
attach together the culture keep in alive. Furthermore, gather as a group not just for holidays,
but for ordinary meals, events, or just conversation which can learn many aspects of culture.
By attending those event can spread our culture to different people by sharing the information
each other’s. For example, I got some of Muslim and Indian friends, only when I start to
communicate with them, I personally get to know their cultures and livings. That’s why
communication is important and sharing the information also key factor to promote the
cultures.

Last but not the least, most of element in Philippines culture believe in god. So learn more
about religious traditions. Whether or not you share your parents' and grandparents' religion,
studying it can help you understand culture in deep. Religion connects and lead to language,
history, and personal behavior. Moreover, it becoming more familiar with your or your
family's religion can help you understand all these other aspects. Which make huge impact on
preserve our culture alive.
