Nora Katherine Phillips-Kraft

Professional Experience
Latin Instructor, Saint Francis Xavier Catholic School July 2020-Present

I currently teach 4K - 8th grade at SFX. I am creating a curriculum that spans the entire school and includes materials to connect
Latin as the language of the church through prayer and hymns. In the lower levels, curricular materials reflect CI principles with
very little grammar and largely spoken Latin content. In the middle school level, I introduce some grammar content as my
students build their vocabulary through continued study and prayer.

Latin Instructor, Mountain Brook Junior High School July 2016- May 2018
I taught all Latin I students at MBJH. My students participated in National Junior Classical League events, and I worked with my
colleagues to redesign the Latin curriculum for more advanced, proficiency-based standards.

Latin Instructor, BASIS Independent Silicon Valley July 2014- July 2016
I taught over 300 students at a private, STEM school in San Jose, CA. I have taught every 5th and 6th grader at the school and one
class of 9th-11th graders.

Tutor Coordinator, Stanford Summer Programs Summer 2014

I worked as the Humanities Tutor Coordinator for Stanford’s summer school programs. I created schedules for my tutors, and
acted as the resident ESL and Latin tutor for the summer school. I have tutored students at the high school, and elementary levels,
working on intensive vocabulary analysis, using English cognates as helpful tools to remember words, as well as assistance with
difficult grammatical structures in translation. In addition, I edited papers for many exchange students and ESL learners.
