1 Introduction
I. About U.P. Combined Agriculture and Technology Entrance Test
(UPCATET) -2020
In pursuance of the provisions of clause (3) of Article 348 of the Constitution of India, the
Governor is pleased to order the publication of the following English translation of the Uttar Pradesh
Krishi Evam Prodyogik Vishwavidyalaya (Dwitiya Sanshodhan) Adhiniyam, 2006 (Uttar Pradesh
Adhiniyam Sankhya 16 of 2006) as passed by the Uttar Pradesh Legislature and assented to by the
Governor on May 23, 2006.
As per provision of the Uttar Pradesh Krishi Evam Prodyogik Vishwavidyalaya (Dwitiya
Sanshodhan) Adhiniyam, 2006 (Uttar Pradesh Adhiniyam Sankhya 16 of 2006) as passed by the
Uttar Pradesh Legislature and assented to by the Governor on May 23, 2006, Registrar, Chandra
Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture & Technology, Kanpur would organise U.P.Combined
Agriculture and Technology Entrance Test (UPCATET) -2020 on rotation for admission in all the
programmes of the four Agriculture universities of Uttar Pradesh.
II. About Universities

1. CHANDRA SHEKHAR AZAD UNIVERSITY OF AGRICULTURE & TECHNOLOGY,
KANPUR (U.P.)
The University
Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture & Technology, Kanpur came into existence by
an Act of Uttar Pradesh Legislature and was created vide Uttar Pradesh Shashan Krishi Anubhag-4,
Notification No. 1086–XII–4, dated March 01, 1975 with merger of two constituent Colleges, the
erstwhile Govt. Agriculture College, Kanpur and College of Veterinary Science and Animal
Husbandry, Mathura. However, the Veterinary College has been given an independent status of the
Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry University at Mathura. The present status of the University
was attained through various phases of growth of its constituent colleges.
Location
Kanpur is situated on Howrah-Delhi route of Northern Railway. The University is located at 8.4
km North-West of Kanpur Central Railway/Bus Station. The University is well connected by road,
the mode of conveyance being rickshaw/auto-rickshaw and taxi. Etawah Campus is situated on NH-
2 (Shershah Suri Marg) at a distance of 169 km from Kanpur towards Delhi. Etawah is also well
connected with train on Howrah-New Delhi main route at a distance of 139 km from Kanpur
towards New Delhi. The Engineering College, Etawah is 2 km far from Etawah Railway Station and
near to B.R.Ambedkar, District Hospital.

Science), MBA (Agri-Business), Ph.D. in Agriculture, Horticulture and Home Science at main
campus of the University at Kanpur while B.Tech.(Agriculture Engineering), B.Tech. (Computer
Science & Engineering), B.Tech.(Electronics & Communication Engineering), B.Tech.(Mechanical
Engineering), B.Tech.(Dairy Technology) and Bachelor in Fisheries Science at the Etawah Campus.
Overall, University offers Master’s Programme in 20 and Ph.D. Programme in 16 disciplines of
Agriculture, Horticulture and Home Science. The University adopted ICAR V th Dean’s Committee
recommendations in various degree programmes.
2. SARDAR VALLABHBHAI PATEL UNIVERSITY OF AGRICULTURE &

TECHNOLOGY, MEERUT (U.P.)
The University
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology, Modipuram, Meerut was
established on 2nd October, 2000 under Uttar Pradesh Agriculture University Act. (Amended) 2000
vide Government order No. 3204A/XII– 8–2000–00 (96) 2000 dated September 27th, 2000.
Location
University is situated at Roorkee Road (NH 58), 15 Km away from Sourabh gate bus stand, 12.5
Km. from Bhaishali bus stand, 15.5 Km. from Meerut City Railway Station and 13.5 Km. from
Meerut Cant Railway Station. The University is well connected by road, the mode of conveyance
being bus/Auto-rickshaw/Taxi.

The University
Acharya Narendra Deva University of Agriculture & Technology, Kumarganj, Ayodhya was
established on October 10, 1975. The Uttar Pradesh Krishi Vishwavidyalaya Adhiniyam, 1958 was
amended in 1974 to establish this university.
The functional area of University with respect to teaching, research and extension is spread over
the entire eastern U.P. comprising of 26 districts and 7 revenue divisions i.e. Ayodhya, Gorakhpur,
Varanasi, Azamgarh, Devi Patan, Basti and Vindhydham.
Location:
University is situated on Ayodhya-Raibareilly road at 43 Km. from Ayodhya and 25 Km. away
from Jagdishpur (Nihalgarh) which is located at Lucknow-Sultanpur road.

The University offers B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture, B.Sc. (Hons) Horticulture, B.F.Sc., B.Sc. (Hons)
Home Science/Community Science, B.V.Sc. & A.H., M.Sc. (Agriculture), M. Sc. (Home Science),
M.V.Sc., Ph.D. in Agriculture and in Veterinary Science at main campus of the University,
while B. Tech. (Agricultural Engineering), at Akbarpur (District-Ambedkar Nagar). Over all,
university offers M.Sc. and Ph.D. programmes in 16 subjects. M.V.Sc. in 12 subjects and Ph.D.
inVeterinary Science in 10 subjects. University has adopted ICAR’s V th Dean’s Committee curricula
in the various UG course programme.
4. BANDA UNIVERSITY OF AGRICULTURE & TECHNOLOGY, BANDA (U.P.)
The University
Banda University of Agriculture and Technology, Banda was established on 2 nd March 2010
under Uttar Pradesh Agriculture University Act (revised) 1958 Gazette-Adhiniyam 2010 for the
development of the agriculture and allied sectors of Bundelkhand region of the Uttar Pradesh. The
University has jurisdiction over Banda, Chitrakoot, Mahoba, Hamirpur, Jhansi, Lalitpur, and Jalaun
districts. University is committed to serve the Bundelkhand region with trinity concept, i.e. complete
integration of teaching, research and extension for the development of agriculture, horticulture and
allied sectors in order to ensure food security and enhance socio-economic status of inhabitants. The
University head quarter is being developed on 948 acre land and the campus is facilitated with
college buildings, administrative buildings, hostels for boys & girls, residences for staff, play
ground, convenience centre, canteen, 33 KV substation, R.O. plant etc.

Location
The main University campus covering 948 acres is located about 6 km outside the Banda city
adjoining 60 meter wide Banda-Kanpur road on the Junction of bypass Road to Mahoba. The
campus is 6 km away from the Railway Station and 5 km from Bus Stand of Banda. District of
Banda is bounded in the north by district of Fatehpur, in the east by the district of Chitrakoot, in the
west by district of Hamirpur and Mahoba and in the south by Satna, Panna, and Chhatarpur districts
of adjoining state of Madhya Pradesh.
Eleven Colleges dealing with Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Home Science,
Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry, Agriculture Engineering & Technology, Agribusiness
Management, Dairy Technology, Basic Sciences & Humanities, Food Science and Fisheries have
been proposed in the master plan of the University. Among these, three Colleges, namely, College of
Agriculture, College of Horticulture, College of Forestry and College of Home Science are in
operation. First Academic session commenced from 01 September 2011 with two Undergraduate
degree programmes, namely, B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture and B.Sc. (Hons) Horticulture. College of
Forestry is offering four year duration Undergraduate degree programme of B.Sc. (Hons) Forestry
from Academic session 2017-18 and College of Home Science is offering four year duration degree
programme of B.Sc. (Hons) Home Science/Community Science from Academic session 2019-20.
i. College of Agriculture
The 1st Academic session of B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture degree programme in the College of
Agriculture commenced from 01 September, 2011. There are 9 departments in this College,
namely- (i) Agricultural Economics, (ii) Agricultural Extension, (iii) Agronomy, (iv) Crop
Physiology, (v) Entomology, (vi) Genetics and Plant Breeding, (vii) Plant Pathology, (viii) Soil
Science and Agricultural Chemistry and (ix) Statistics and Social Science.
ii. College of Horticulture
The 1st Academic session of B.Sc. (Hons) Horticulture programme began from 01 September,
2011, There are 7 departments in the college, namely, (i) Basic Sciences and Humanities, (ii)
Floriculture & Land Scaping, (iii) Fruit Science, (iv) Post Harvest Technology and (v) Vegetable
Science.
iii. College of Forestry
The 1st Academic session of B.Sc. (Hons) Forestry was commenced from academic year 2017-
18. There are five departments in the college, namely, (i) Forest Biology and Tree Improvement,
(ii) Forest Product Utilization, (iii) Natural Resource Management, (iv) Silviculture and
Agroforestry, and (v) Wild Life Sciences.
iv. College of Home Science:

The 1st Academic session of B.Sc. (Hons) Home Science/Community Science degree programme
was commenced from academic year 2019-20 with the broad objective is to enable the girls to
improve the quality of their personal and professional life and contribute towards the betterment
of the family and nation.
The University offers UG degree programmes namely B.Sc.(Hons) Agriculture, B.Sc.(Hons)

Horticulture, B.Sc.(Hons) Forestry and B.Sc.(Hons) Home Science/Community Science; Master’s
degree programmes in seven disciplines of Agriculture, four disciplines of Horticulture & two
disciplines of Forestry and PhD degree programme in six disciplines of Agriculture and four
disciplines of Horticulture. University adopted ICAR’s Vth Dean’s Committee curricula.

The financial assistance to the UG, PG and Ph.D. students is available for limited UG, PG and
Ph.D. students as per rules of concerned Agriculture universities. There are several scholarships such as
University financed scholarships, I.C.A.R. , U.G.C. , Samaj Kalyan Scholarship for scheduled
castes,/scheduled tribes, general categories, other backward class and minority students from Govt. of

Placement avenues in the field of agriculture and allied organizations/ industries
The demand for trained professionals in the field of agriculture and allied industries is very high.
A student may get well paying job right after graduation. After graduation they may get employment /
job in government agencies, food processing units/ farm management and biotechnology research
organizations as Research Officer, District Agriculture Officer, Plant Protection Officer (PPO), District
Soil Conservation Officer, District Horticulture officer (DHO), Quality Assurance Officer, Agriculture
Loan Officer (in Banks), Production Manager, Farm Manager, Technical Officer etc. Veterinary
graduates may get government job as Veterinary Officers; Assistant commandant in BSF, RVC, ITBP.
In private sector, agriculture graduates may find jobs as officers in Agrochemical industries,
Seed companies like SYNGENTA, BAYER etc., Agriculture Machinery Industries, Agricultural
Products Marketing Firms, Food Processing Units etc. Veterinary graduates may get job in organized
poultry farms, dairy farms, meat industry and livestock, poultry, dairy and pet feed industry. All the
Agriculture Universities of Uttar Pradesh also organize the campus interviews for facilitating
employment of their students in nationally and internationally reputed companies/industries through
their placement cell.
After doing graduation in agriculture and allied subjects, one may also go for post graduation
studies to become eligible for services as Scientists/Teachers/Assistant Professors/ guest faculty in
National/International Research Institutes, and Central and State Universities.
