a. Determine whether linear equations in one variable have one solution, no
solution, or infinitely many solutions of the form x = a, a = a, or a = b (where
a and b are different numbers).
b. Represent and solve real-world and mathematical problems with
equations and interpret each solution in the context of the problem.

E Description

Engagement Students will watch a YouTube video about distributive property. Below is the
link to the YouTube video.
Distributive Property Video

After watching the video, students will create their own distributive property
problem. Students will share their problems on the board/document camera.
Students will explain how they solve their distributive property they created. By
doing this activity during the engagement, I will be able to make sure all students
have a conceptual understanding of distributive property before moving into
solving equations with distributive property.

Engagement Below is a link to a Kahoot! to assess the students’ understanding of distributive

Assessment property. I can check the students’ understanding because in Kahoot, it shows
which problems the students get correct or incorrect. I will be able to determine
which students are struggling by the number of questions they get correct. If the
students are struggling, I can pull those students into a small group and help the
students understand solving equations using distributive property. I can also
break them into small groups and make sure there is a student in each group
that has a conceptual understanding of solving equations using distributive
property. The student can teach the students who are struggling and answer any
question that they made have.
Distributive Property Kahoot!

Exploration Below is a Quizlet that we will work out the problems as a whole group and small
group. Students will work with their groups to make sure they have a conceptual
understanding of solving equations using distributive property. After completing
the Quizlet, the students should have a better understanding of solving
equations using distributive property. I will walk around to each group and make
sure that all students have a conceptual understanding of the concept.

checking their answers from the interactive slideshow. If the students are

Explanation During this activity students will be working together to gain a better
understanding of solving equations using distributive property. At the beginning, I
will introduce the students to solving equations using distributive property. After
the students are introduced and their questions are answered, the students have
examples to work. The students can work on them individually, small group, or
whole group. Depending on the understanding of the mathematical concept will
depend on how the students will work on the examples.

Explanation Below is the link to a Google Form to determine the students’ understanding of
Assessment solving equations using distributive property. This assessment is very similar to
their final assessment. This assessment will help me know which students are
still struggling so I can make sure that they gain a better understanding before
their final assessment.
Solving Equations Using Distributive Property Assessment

Elaboration
The students will complete this individually. They will make an infographic using
an infographic tool of their choice. They can use Piktochart, Google Slides, etc.
The students will solve an equation using distributive property problem and
describe each step. After the students complete this, we will print the
infographics and hand them in the hallway for everyone to see. Criteria will be
posted on Google Classroom for students to view.

Criteria for Infographic

You will be creating an infographic about solving equations using distributive

property. You will need to solve and describe each step on solving the equation.
The infographic should be colorful and appealing. You must include each step

and a description of step. You may use any infographic website of your choice.
Examples are Google Slides, Piktochart, etc. I have attached a copy of an
infographic that I created to give you an idea of how it should look.

Student Work Sample

Evaluation The rubric for the infographic project is rated 1-4 with 4 being the best. The
students must create a well-organized infographic that contains a title and an
example. The example must be color coded so that the viewer can follow the
steps. There should also be a description of the step so the viewer can
understand what happened in each step. The example should be worked out
correctly. If the student presents all the criteria, they will receive a 4. If the
student has minor issues in the example, but has majority of the other criteria,
they will receive a 3. If the student has some of the criteria, they will receive a 2.
If the student did not complete the infographic and had none of the criteria, they
will receive a 1.
