    Preface and Acknowledgement

    Water supply and sanitation is a basic need of the people. Periodic plans
    and policy documents of the government have therefore advocated for
    improving the access to the basic but safe water supply services adpoting a
    policy of all inclusive ethenic groups,economic strata, gender , religion,
    disability and geographical location,on the principle of cost sharing and full
    operation and maintenance by the beneficiary group inthe community.

    The sustainable access to safe drinking water supply and appropriate


    sanitation facilities, in addition to lessening the drudgery of the people in
    fetching water, specially of women and girls children, will improve the
    health of the people. It helps to reduce medical expences and provides an
    opportunity to additional economic activity and ultimately to improve the
    living standards.

    This detailed engineering study and design report of Geta-7 Water Supply
    Project is an outcome of an agreement signed between Water Supply and
    Sanitation Division Office, Kailali and Malika Engineering Consultancy,
    Kailali.

    We espress our sinceregratitude to division chief, Mr. Narayan Kafle, for


    entrusting us to carry out detailed engineering study design of the project.
    We would also like to express our sincere thanks to all the staff of the
    Division Office for their kind cooperation and appreciate their support in
    some way or other during field study as well as during design and
    preparation of the report.
