PERFORMANCE TASK with in Subject Area

Create a game

Competency:
1. solves problems involving probability. M10SP-IIIi-j-1

Integrated competency:

1. llustrates events, and union and intersection of events. M10SP-IIIf-1

2. illustrates the probability of a union of two events. M10SP-IIIg-1
3. finds the probability of (A U B). M10SP-IIIg-h-1
4. illustrates mutually exclusive events. M10SP-IIIi-1

Scenario:
Your club aims to raise fun for a cause. The club is given a booth in the school campus during the Founding
Anniversary Week. The booth will cater both the junior and senior high school students.

GOAL To design a game of chance with prizes of varying value to be featured at

your club’s booth. The game must involve no skill. Examine the outcomes of
winning the game by applying the different laws of probability.
ROLE You are the club president tasked to design a game of chance. You will
prepare a project proposal. Game mechanics must be well defined.
AUDIENCE The target audience are your club adviser and your co-officers.
SITUATION The game must be designed so that customers will win often enough to keep
them interested. Your price structure, value of prizes, and the laws of
probability must insure that your club will make a profit on the booth
PRODUCT/PERFORMANCE You need to convince your audience by presenting a project proposal during
the meeting. Your proposal must include a simulation of how the game will
be played and the projection of the profit. that the game you have prepared
will give the club a profit
Content:
STANDARD The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of combinatorics
and probability.
Performance:
The learner is able to use precise counting technique and probability in
formulating conclusions and making decisions.
