    Role and responsibilities:


    Unix Administration

    Linux:

    • Troubleshooting NFS Services related issues.


    • Patching Linux servers with latest baseline patches.
    • Monitoring System Performance related to Virtual memory, Swap Space, Disk utilization and
    CPU utilization, Network-Related Configuration, Network File System (NFS)
    • Managing Linux filesystem through LVM.
    • Package Management in Linux
    • Managing and scheduling jobs.
    • Handling files system issues
    • User and Security Administration
    • Managing User accounts
    • Service Management
    • Performing the NIC configuration.
    • Managing Swap Configuration
    • Sudo Configuration on Linux Server
    • Extend the LVs
    • Configure the Physical and Volume groups
     RPM & YUM Managements

     LVM:

    • Manage the File system in LVM


    • Extend the LVs
    • Configure the Physical and Volume groups

    Solaris:

    • Daily activities resolving technical problems related to Servers.


    • Managing and maintaining the server builds of Solaris for physical servers and LDOMS.
    • Maintaining hardware and operating system software on UNIX platform.

    • Installing/Adding new packages on Solaris servers as per User Requests.
    • File system creation on SAN using VXvm on Solaris platforms.
    • Mirroring the disks, Creating VxVM volumes and creating the VXFS file systems, Implementing
    RAID 0, 1 and 5 levels.
    • Resolving file system inconsistencies issues in VERITAS Volume Manager.
    • Creating Meta devices and creating file systems using SVM.
    • Mirroring the disks , Meta database issues and File system inconsistencies issues in SVM
    • Supporting operational works in LDOMS like Adding disks, CPU, Memory and performance
    tuning on Guest domain.
    • Troubleshooting NFS Services related issues.
    • Taking snapshot of rpool and recovering the OS form snapshot.
    • Creating new file system in ZFS
    • Mirroring the file system in ZFS
    • Troubleshooting with ZFS file system issues.
    • Applying Reservation/quota to ZFS file volume.
    • Troubleshooting issues of IPMP multipathing.
    • Applying and updating packages in Solaris 11.
    • Configuring and managing IPS.

    VxVM (VERITAS Volume Manager):

    • Installing the VERITAS Volume Manager Software in Linux.


    • One way Mirroring & Two way Mirroring (Root Disk Encapsulation).
    • Add and Initialize Disk into VERITAS
    • RAID 0, RAID 1 & RAID 5 in Linux.
    • Increasing and Decreasing the File System Size Online.
    • Creating Volumes, Sub Disks and Plexes.
    • Replacing Failed Disks.
