I had a terrible day yesterday. First, I woke up an hour late because my alarm clock
didn’t go off. Then, I was in such a hurry that I burned my hand when I was making
breakfast. After breakfast, I got dressed so quickly that I forgot to wear socks.
Next, I ran out of the house trying to get the 9:30 bus. But of course I missed it. I
wanted to take a taxi, but I didn’t have enough money.
Finally, I walked the three miles to my school only to discover that it was
Sunday! I hope I never have a day like the one I had yesterday.

Since 1920 Time magazine … a person, or a group of people, who have changed
the world for the better, or sometime for worse.
Once upon a time there lived a boy with his parents in a small village. The
parents were farmers but the boy liked drawing.
The parents taught the boy to be a farmer. But the boy didn’t want to be a
farmer. What he did all day was drawing. He loved drawing very much but he only drew a
cat. The parents became very sad. They thought the boy was the villagers not suitable to
be a farmer.
Finally, they decided to send the boy to the temple to be a priest. So, the farmer
brought the boy to the priest at the village temple. The priest said, “I will gladly teach
them.
In the temple, the other students worked hard at their writing, but not the boy.
With his brush and rice paper, he did nothing for hours but drawing a cat. Finally, the
priest realized that the boy wouldn’t be a priest. They asked the boy to go home.
On the way home the boy found a temple. He got in the temple to spend the
night there. In the temple there was a folding screen with empty rice-paper panels, he
started to draw a cat. The cat was very big as big as the wall. At the night the boy entered
the small room and slept there. In the middle of the night, he heard the sound of a fight.
He didn’t dare to come out.
In the morning he just got out from the room when he saw a monster rat as big
as a cow lying dead on the floor. He saw the painting of the cat on the wall. It looked that
the cat was in the different position. He also saw blood on the mouth of the cat. Finally,
he understood that the cat in the painting became alive and killed the monster.
The villagers were very happy hearing that the monster rat was dead. Then they
claimed the boy was a hero. At last the boy become a famous painter and his parents
were proud of him.

Piranhas are small to medium sized fish that live in rivers of South America. Some
piranhas can be found in warm lakes and rivers of North America and in Kaptai lake in
Bangladesh. Word piranha means ‘fish tooth’ in indigenous languages of Amazon. Exact
number of species if piranha is unknown (between 30 and 60). They are not endangered.
Piranhas have silver body covered with red patches that serve as camouflage in muddy
waters which they inhabit. Piranha can be 5.5-17 inches in length and weight about 7.7
pounds.
Most people think that piranhas have insatiable appetite for blood, but they are
actually omnivores animals it means that they eat animals and plants. They usually eat
snails, fish, aquatic animals and plants, seed and fruit. Their sharp and pointed teeth are
arranged in a single row. Their jaw bone is so strong, that it can crush a human hand in 5-
10 seconds. Piranhas are cannibals; they will eat their own species. They will attack and
eat other piranhas when other meat sources are not available.
Groups of piranhas are known as “schools”. School consists of 1000 of fish.
Dolphins, crocodiles and turtles are the biggest enemies of piranhas. Mating takes place
during rainy season in April and May. Females can lay up to 5000 eggs. Since both males
and females take care of eggs, 90% of eggs survive until hatching. They live up to 25
years in the wild and 10-12 years in captivity.
What is the main idea of the second paragraph?
A. Piranha is omnivores
B. Piranha likes to eat blood only.
C. Piranha has some ways to survive.
D. Piranha’s body is different from other fishes.

When I was in Junior High School, my father once took me to go fishing with him at
the river on Sunday morning. The river lies across our oil palm plantation. We had breakfast
first at home and then left early in the morning by motorcycle.
When we arrived at our oil palm plantation, my father parked the motorcycle under
a hut. He asked me to collect some dry wood and dry grass or leaves. When I already
collected enough wood and dry leaves, my father set a fire in the center of the fireplace. He
said that the smoke from the fire would scare some dangerous animal like bear and boar to
come closer to the hut, so it would make us safer.
After cleaning some wild grass around the hut, my father gave me a hoe and asked
me to dig some soil to find worms. When I already had enough worms, I brought it to him
and we went straight to the river. We put the worm on the fishing hook as a bait to catch
the fish. As a beginner fisher, I could not apply the worm on the fishing hook well, and it
looked like it was about to fall from the hook, but my father said that it was okay. I threw
the fishing hook into the river and waited for the fish to eat the bait, but nothing happened
for about an hour. When I was about to get bored I saw a big prawn was slowly walking in
the water. I placed the fishing hook slowly into the face of the prawn and moved it up and
down so the worm seemed alive. I never expected it to happen but suddenly the prawn
moved its hand and grabbed the worm on my fishing hook. I lifted the hook very slowly and
the prawn
was still there hanging tightly on the worm until I placed it on the ground. I did it
again and again. It also happened to my father many times. We were so surprised to see it.
Before we went home, we cooked it at the hut and enjoyed it together.
