    SORECO I’s services have been unreliable throughout the years but the past weeks showed that

    their
    services can become even worse. Recently, occasional power outages or brownouts in the Municipality
    of Bulan have brought massive inconveniences on the part of the Bulanenos. These power outages or
    brownouts are usually sudden and unannounced that last for seconds or a minute. Due to the duration
    of these power outages, the abrupt surge of electricity can damage appliances and gadgets that can
    possibly lead to fires, disrupt work and studies, and compromise businesses and hospitals for example.

    The need for better and reliable electricity services became greater in this time of COVID-19 pandemic
    due to increased dependence on the internet and considering that we stay in our homes longer than
    before but it seems that SORECO I does not recognize this. SORECO I has continued their unsatisfactory
    and poor services and gave no assurance to improve such.

    SORECO I may argue that the reason for the frequent brownouts is the “Extended Load Dropping
    Activities” and in view of this, they released a list of barangays that will be covered by the rotational
    brownout. However, there are barangays that are not on the said list that experience frequent power
    interruptions which shows that their list is inaccurate. This defeats the purpose of the list because
    people are still caught unprepared for the power interruptions.

    As consumers, the law mandates that we have the right to express our opinions and demand for quality
    and efficient services. The undesirable services of SORECO I affect, first and foremost, the academic
    performance of the students who are relying so much on electricity and internet, the standard of job
    rendered by employees especially those who are working from home, and the quality of life of the
    Bulanenos overall.

    I am challenging all Bulanenos to be united in calling for the immediate improvement of the services of
    SORECO I and the resolution of issues that prevent them to do so. The unacceptable services of SORECO
    I must stop because we deserve so much better. We are committed in paying our bills on time.
    Therefore, it is necessary that SORECO I must be also committed in delivering efficient and excellent
    services to the people.
