1. PURPOSE
To provide a documented procedure for all activities related to Concrete Works.

2. SCOPE
This Method Statement is only applicable to Cast-in-Place Concrete. Concrete Repairs shall be
submitted separately as a special process per schedule Q requirement.

The scope covers the following activities:


- Furnishing, fabricating and erecting formwork to cast-in-place concrete as indicated on the
drawings and as specified. This also applies to formwork and shoring for cast-in-place concrete
installation of items in the formwork such as anchor bolts, setting plates, bearing plates,
anchorage, inserts, frames, nosing and other items to be embedded in concrete
- Furnishing, fabrication and placement of reinforcement for cast-in-place concrete, including rebar,
welded steel wire fabric, ties and supports
- Furnishing and placing construction joints and expansion joints as indication on the drawings and
as specified
- Concrete placement, consolidation, finishing and curing (all concrete structure to be specified in
the drawing)

COMPANY REPRESENTATIVE: COMPANY’s authorized representative with overall authority and


responsibility for the project

5. RESPONSIBILITY

5.1 PROJECT MANAGER


Project Manager has overall authority and responsibility for all aspects of the Project. He will
represent Hyundai Engineering & Construction in MIP-Package 6 Project in all matters relating
to the contract.

5.2 CONSTRUCTION MANAGER


Construction Manager controls and coordinates all work activities carried out in the
construction site. He is responsible for the establishment and implementation of procedures
for execution of the works.

5.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER


QA Manager is responsible for the preparation, review, updating and distribution of the Project
Quality Plan. Issue of Project Quality procedures, Project Inspection and Test Plans and forms.
He is also responsible for the assignment of Quality related tasks within the framework of the
project

5.4 QUALITY CONTROL MANAGER


The QC Manager shall be responsible to ensure that all works are in accordance with the
approved drawings and specification requirements of the company as well as implementation
of Quality Procedure.

5.5 SITE ENGINEER


Site Engineer directs and coordinates the engineering activities pertinent to execution of the
project. He is responsible to verify the compliance of design with the Project Quality
requirements and contractual obligations.

5.6 SAFETY SUPERVISOR


Safety Supervisor shall carry out site surveys to see that only safe work methods are in
operation, that health and safety requirements are being observed such that welfare and first
aid facilities are adequate and properly maintained. He shall stop all unsafe work activities
when observed.

5.7 CIVIL SUPERVISOR


The Civil Supervisor and/or Foremen are solely responsible for the construction of concrete
structures assuring all materials installed permanently and works being implemented are in
conformance with specifications and approved drawings.

5.8 QC INSPECTOR
The QC Civil Inspector shall ensure that the approved quality control procedure is
implemented throughout the course of construction. Inspection shall be done on materials or
work, which will be incorporated to the permanent structures. He shall coordinate with

Company Representative regarding inspection and testing activities. Documentation of all


inspection and test made shall be his responsibility. The Independent Testing Laboratory
Technician shall be responsible for all necessary tests in the field, i.e. concrete temperature,
slump and compressive strength of concrete. He shall be responsible in recording all test
results and generate reports of all tests conducted

7. MATERIALS
The concrete materials shall be in accordance with 09-SAMSS-097 “Ready Mixed Concrete” and as
follows:

7.1 CEMENTITIOUS MATERIALS

7.1.1 Portland cement shall be accordance with ASTM C150/C150M, Type I or Type V

7.1.2 Fly ash shall be accordance with ASTM C168, class F

7.1.3 Ground Granular Blast Furnace Slag (GGBFS) shall be in accordance with ASTM
C989/C989M

7.1.4 Natural Pozzolan shall be in accordance with ASTM C618

7.1.5 Silica fume shall be in accordance with ASTM C1240

7.1.6 Cementitious materials used for mass concrete applications shall be in


accordance with ACI 301/ ACI 301M sec. 8.2.1.1. For environmental engineering
concrete, cementitious materials used for mass concrete application shall also be
in accordance with ACI 350.5 / ACI 350.5M sec. 8.2.1.1

7.1.7 Cementitious materials shall be tested prior to use on a monthly basis or when
changing the source of the materials.

7.2 REINFORCEMENT

7.2.1 Reinforcing bars shall be deformed steel in accordance with ASTM A615/A615M
Grade 420

7.2.2 When used as ductile steel elements to resist earthquake effects, deformed
reinforcing bar shall be limited to ASTM A706 Grade 420, or ASTM A615 Grades
280 and 420 satisfying the requirements of ACI 318-14

7.2.3 Coated reinforcements shall be fusion bonded epoxy in accordance with 09-

7.2.4 Fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) reinforcement shall be conform to the


requirements of 12-SAMSS-027 and ASTM D795/D795M

7.2.5 Welded wire reinforcement shall be plain wire in accordance with ASTM-A1-064/
A1064M. Rolls of welded wire reinforcement shall not be used

7.2.6 Galvanized welded wire fabric shall conform to ASTM A767/A767M

7.2.7 Tie wire shall be black annealed wire, 16 gauge (1.29mm) min. Fasten epoxy
coated reinforcement with tie wires coated epoxy.

7.2.8 Manufacturing, fabrication, handling, placement and storage of steel


reinforcement shall be in accordance with ACI 318.

8. PROCEDURE

8.1 FORMWORKS

8.1.1 The design and construction of the formwork shall be in accordance with ACI 347,
Saudi Aramco Construction Safety Manual.

8.1.2 Form release agents shall not be applied if concrete surfaces shall receive special
finishes (e.g. Architectural Finishes) or where the agent may affect applied
coverings. Alternately, inside surfaces of untreated formwork shall be soaked with
clean water and kept moist before placing concrete
- Unless otherwise shown or specified, formwork of concrete surfaces shall be
constructed with plywood-faced or other panel type materials acceptable to
Client, to provide continuous, straight and smooth as-cast surfaces.
- Form material shall be furnished in largest practicable sizes to minimize number
of joints and to conform to joint system shown on drawings and with sufficient
thickness to with stand pressure of newly placed concrete without bow or
deflection and without leakage.
- Factory-fabricated adjustable-length removal or snap-off metal form ties shall
be used to prevent from deflection and to prevent spilling concrete surfaces
upon removal.
- Unless otherwise shown, tie shall be used so that portion remaining within
concrete after removal of exterior parts is at least 40mm from the outer concrete
surfaces. Unless otherwise shown, only from ties which will not leave a hole
larger than 25mm diameter in concrete surface is used.
- Ties shall be galvanized and fully surrounded with concrete.
- Form ties subjected to hydrostatic pressure shall be provided with capable
water stops, such as metal washers, securely and continuously fastened to the
ties
- Form ties fabricated on the project site and wire ties shall not be accepted
- Use commercial formulation form-coating compounds that will not bond with,
strain, nor adversely affect concrete surfaces and will not impair subsequent
treatment of concrete surfaces requiring bond or adhesion, nor impede the
wetting of surfaces to be cured with water or curing compounds

- Formwork shall be constructed sufficiently tight to prevent leakage of cement


paste during concrete placement. Solidly butt joints and provide backup joints
as required to prevent leakage and fines
- Form shall be constructed to the exact sizes, shape, lines and dimensions
shown as a required to obtain accurate alignment, location, grades, level and
plumb work in finished structures. Provide for openings, offsets, sinkage,
keyways, recesses, moldings, rustications, reglets, chamfers, blocking,
screeds, bulkheads, anchorages and inserts and other features required. Use
selected materials to obtain required finishes
- Forms shall be fabricated for easy removal without hammering or prying against
concrete surfaces. Use crush plates or wrecking plates where stripping may
damage cast concrete surfaces. Use top forms for inclined surfaces where the
slope is too steep to place concrete with bottom forms only
- Keep wood inserts for forming keyways, regrets, recesses and the like to
prevent swelling and assure ease of removal
- Temporary openings shall be provided where interior area of formwork is
inaccessible for clean out, for inspection before concrete placement and for
placement of concrete. Temporary closures shall be provided and set tightly to
forms to prevent loss of concrete mortar. Temporary openings on forms shall
be located in as inconspicuous location as possible, consistent with the project
requirements

8.1.3 Removal of Formworks


- For structures for which forms do not provide vertical support (e.g. footings,
piers, columns, walls, or sides of beams.) the forms may be removed 24 hours
after completion of placement if concrete is sufficiently hard to prevent damage
by form removal, and if curing starts immediately.
- Unless otherwise specified in the contract documents forms for self- supporting
members may be removed if concrete compressive strength is at least 80% of
the specified 28-day compressive strength. Refer to ACI 301-16 sec. 2.3.4, for
determining compressive strength of concrete for removal of formwork.
- Unless otherwise approved by the purchaser, forms shall not be left
permanently in place.
a. Formwork shall be constructed to provide completed cast-in-place concrete
surfaces complying with tolerances specified in ACI 347.
b. Lines and levels of erected formwork shall be checked before concrete
placement. Corrections and adjustments shall be made to ensure proper
size and locations of concrete members and stability of forming systems.
c. Formwork and related supports shall be checked during concrete
placement to ensure that forms are not displaced and that completed work
will be within specified tolerances.

8.2 STEEL REINFORCEMENT

8.2.1 Reinforcement placing drawings and bending schedules shall be prepared in


accordance with ACI SP-66 and CRSI Manual of Standard Practices

8.2.2 Reinforcement placing drawings and bending schedules shall show number,
grade, size, length, mark, location and bending diagrams for reinforcing bars.

8.2.3 Reinforcing bars shall be fabricated to conform to required shapes and dimension,
with fabrication tolerances.
- Reinforcement with any of the following defects will not be permitted in the work:
a. Bar lengths, depths and bends exceeding specified fabrication tolerances.
b. Bend or kinks not indicated on drawings or final shop drawings.
c. Bars with reduced cross-section due to excessive rusting or other
deterioration.
- Prior to any steel fabrication / bending, fabricator shall perform a demonstrative
sample showing the proposed methods of bending and repair of coating
damage.
- Installation of concrete reinforcement shall comply with the “Concrete
Reinforcing Steel Institute” (CRSI).
- Reinforcement shall be placed to obtain the minimum coverage for concrete
protection. Bar supports and reinforcement shall be arranged, spaced and
securely tied together with 1.52mm wire to hold reinforcement accurately in
position during concrete placement operations. Wires ties shall be set so that
twisted ends are directed away from exposed concrete surfaces.
- Steel tie wire: Conform to ASTM A 82 pain cold drawn steel,
- (FY=465MPA) for fusion bonded epoxy coater reinforcing bars use nylon
coated or plastic coated or epoxy coated tie wire.
- Welded steel wire fabric shall be installed in as long lengths as practicable.
Adjoining pieces shall be lapped at least two full meshes with 1.6mm wire. End
laps shall not be made midway between supporting beams or directly over
beams of continuous structure. End laps in adjacent widths shall be offset to
prevent continuous laps.
- Sufficient numbers of supports of enough strength shall be providing to carry
reinforcement. Plastic chairs and spacers shall be used as bar supports to FBE
coated rebar. Reinforcing bars shall not be placed more than 50mm beyond the
last leg of any continues bar support. Supports shall not be used as bases for
runways for concrete conveying equipment and similar construction loads.
- Standard reinforcement splices shall be provided by lapping ends, placing bars
in contact and wiring tightly.
- Steel reinforcement shall not be spliced in mats, slabs, beams, girders and
walls at points of maximum stress unless otherwise indicated.
- Welding reinforcing steel may only be completed by operators verified in
accordance with AWS D 12.1. Tack welding to, or of, reinforcement is
prohibited.
- The use of heat to bend or straighten reinforcing steel shall not be permitted.
- The maximum amount of coating damage on rebar received at the job site shall
not exceed 1% of the surface area in each 0.3 meter (linear foot). Bars
exceeding this amount shall be rejected. All damaged epoxy coating shall be
repaired with approved patching materials and manufactures
recommendations. And cut ends of bars shall be coated with the same
materials used for repair of coating damaged. The ends of the rebar shall be
coated as soon as the rebar cutting process is finished.

8.3 CONSTRUCTION, EXPANSION and CONTROL JOINTS, CONSTRUCTION JOINTS


Unless otherwise specified in IFC drawings, joints shall be in accordance with the followings:

8.3.1 Construction Joints


- Construction joints shall be placed perpendicular top of the main reinforcement.
All reinforcements shall be continuous across construction joints.
- Locate joints in walls and columns at underside of slabs, beams, or girders and
at tops of footings or slabs
- Remove laitance and thoroughly clean and roughen the surface of concrete
before placement of fresh concrete

8.3.2 Expansion Joints (Concrete Paving)


- Expansion joints 20mm thick shall be provided as shown on drawings.
Expansion joints shall be provided in not more than 24.0m maximum intervals.
- 20mm thick of Joint filler strips shall be installed vertically and to full the depth
and with of the concrete being placed. Strips shall place perpendicularly to
straight.

8.3.3 Construction Joints/Control Joints


- 3mm wide x 40mm deep tooled or saw cut weakened plane joints shall be made
straight and constructed in accordance with the following, unless otherwise
shown in the drawing.
- Sidewalks: Joints transverse to the line of work and at regular intervals not
exceeding 1.5m apart, with joints radial to the line of works on curves. The
surface of the side walk shall contain score lines at intervals not exceeding
0.75m and a minimum depth of 40mm. Score lines shall be parallel to, or
concentric with the lines of work. Sidewalks two meter or more in width shall
have a longitudinal center scoring line. All work shall be done with a steel
scoring trowel. The longitudinal and transverse scoring lines shall match with
the adjacent sidewalks.
- Curb: Joints at regular intervals not exceeding 1.5m. After preliminary toweling
part the concrete to a depth of 4cm with straight edge to create a division in the
course aggregate. Re-float the concrete to fill the parted joint with mortar. Make
the division in order to locate the weak plane for final joint finishing with a jointer
troll having a depth of 3cm. finished joint is not to be wide than3mm.

8.3.4 Joint Compound


- Concrete to be sealed shall be cleaned and dried in accordance with the
manufactures printed instruction.
- Concrete shall be primed, filled flush with joint compound of required thickens,
tooled to concave and sealed, if required, in accordance with the
manufacturer’s instructions.
- Spilling of compound over adjoining surfaces shall be prevented. Tape shall be
adjacent to joint if require. All tape shall be completely removed from concrete
surface.
- Sealing shall not be placed when compound air or concrete temperature is less
than 4.5 degrees C (40 deg. F).

8.4 EMBEDDED ITEMS

8.4.1 All sleeves, inserts, anchor bolts, water stops and other embedded items shall be
installed in accordance with the design drawings and supported against

displacement. Welding of these items to the reinforcing bars shall not be


permitted.

8.4.2 The design and installation of anchor bolts shall be in accordance to SAES-Q-005
and the materials selection of anchor bolts shall be in accordance to 12-SAMSS-
007.

8.4.3 Projecting steel items (such as grating angles, slide plates, unistrut, steel plates
etc.) which are attached to the formwork and cast at the concrete surface shall be
hot deep galvanized in accordance with ASTM A123/A123M or coated with the
zinc rich epoxy primer in APCS-1C of SAES-H-001. Additionally, the steel
attachment, which anchors these items to the concrete, shall be similarly
galvanized or coated.

8.4.4 Reinforcing steel bars, anchor bolts or other steel embedment shall not be
connected to the electrical grounding systems. Connection of the structure
reinforcing or imbedded steel to the lighting protection system shall be as required
by SAEP-P-111.

8.4.5 Conduits, pipes and other items made from aluminum shall not be embedded in
structural concrete unless effectively coated to prevent aluminum-concrete
reaction.

8.5 CAST-IN-PLACE CONCRETE

8.5.1 Pre-Concrete Placement


- Concrete shall not be placed prior to a recorded pre-placement. Contractor QC
Representative must inspect prior to call client for inspection and authorization
to proceed by client.
- Before placing concrete, formwork installation and reinforcing steel shall be
inspected and completed. All required inserts, anchor sleeves, conduits and
other items to be embedded or cast in to the concrete shall be securely
installed.
- Where concrete is placed on the ground or as a sub-course, the substrate upon
which concrete is placed shall be cleaned, dampen and made free from
standing or running water. Prior to placing concrete, the earth foundation shall
have been satisfactorily compacted in compliance with requirements and all
sub-grades approved by the Client representative.
- Soil under cast concrete foundation shall be subjected to testing for soil density
by testing laboratory, as directed by the Client Representative. Concrete shall
be placed immediately after approval of foundation excavation and compaction.
- Wood forms shall be thoroughly wet immediately before placing concrete where
form coatings are not used.
- Installation of joint materials and moisture barriers shall be coordinated with
placement of forms and reinforcing steel.

8.5.2 Concrete Placement


- Concrete shall be placed in accordance with ACI301-16, ACI 304R and SAES-
Q-001.

- Equipment made of aluminum alloys shall not be used for pump lines, tremies,
or chutes used to discharge concrete from a truck mixer.
- Concrete shall be deposited continuously or in layers of such thickness that no
concrete shall be place on concrete which has hardened sufficiently to cause
the formation of seams or planes or weakness within the section. If a section
cannot be placed continuously construction joints shall be provided ax herein
specified. Concrete placement shall be performed at such a rate that concrete
which is being integrated with fresh concrete is still plastic.
- Concrete shall be deposited as nearly as practicable to its final location to avoid
segregation due to re-handling or following.
- Placed concrete shall be thoroughly consolidated by vibrators, working
concrete around reinforcement and embedded fixtures and into corners of the
form supplemented by hand spading, rodding or tamping. Vibrators shall be
adequately sized.
- Concrete vibrators shall be used with necessary precautions to get good,
sealed solid concrete. A standby vibrator shall be made available at the sire
during concrete placement.
- Vibrators shall not be used shall not be used to moved concrete laterally.
Vibrators shall be inserted and withdrawn vertically at intervals of five to twenty
seconds duration and at points 460mm to 750mm (18 in to 30 in) a part,
penetrating previously placed fresh concrete.
- Racking shall not be used for movements of concrete after placement.
- Re-tempering of concrete after placement is prohibited.
- All concrete shall be within 90minutes from the time water was added to the
admixture.
- Concrete shall not be dropped freely from a height of more than 1m and shall
be distributed in uniform layers not to exceed 450mm in height, avoiding
inclined layers and cold joints.
- Concrete which is to receive other construction is to be screed to the proper
level to avoid excessive skimming or grouting.
- Water shall not be used re-temper or regain loss of slump. Rejected concrete
shall be removed from the project site and disposed of in an acceptable
location.
- Concrete shall be placed in conformance with placement schedule to ensure
an event distribution of loads throughout the entire structures

8.5.3 Placing of Concrete into Forms


- Concrete mix shall not be deposited into forms from chutes, hoppers and
brackets at free fall height greater than one meter (1m) above horizontal
formwork and one meter (1m) above bottom of vertical formwork.
- Concrete shall be deposited in forms in horizontal layers not deeper that
300mm unless additional thickness is permitted by the Client Representative
and in a manner to avoid inclined construction joints. Where placement consists
of several layers. Each layer shall be placed while proceeding layer is still
plastic to avoid cold joints.
- Concrete Placed in forms shall be consolidated by mechanical vibrating
equipment supplemented by hand spading, rodding or tamping. Equipment and
procedures for consolidation of concrete shall be in accordance with the
recommended practices of ACI 309 to suit the type of concrete and project
conditions. Vibration of forms and reinforcing shall not be permitted. Vibrator

heads shall be covered by rubber for the protection of epoxy coated rebar for
damaged.
- Vibrators shall not be used to transport concrete inside forms. Vibrator shall be
inserted and withdrawn vertically at uniformly spaced locations not farther than
the visible effectiveness of the machine. Vibrators shall be placed to rapidly
penetrate the layer of concrete and at least 150mm into the preceding layer.
Vibrators shall be inserted into lower layers of concrete that have begun to set.
At each insertion, duration of vibration shall be limited to the time necessary to
consolidate the concrete and complete embedment of reinforcement and other
embedded items without causing segregation of mix

8.5.4 Placing Concrete Slabs


- Concrete for slabs shall be deposited and consolidated in a continuous
operation within the limits of construction joints, until the placing of a panel or
section is completed.
- Reinforcing steel bars shall be maintained in the proper position continuously
during concrete placement operations.
- During placement operations, concrete shall be consolidated using mechanical
vibrating equipment so that concrete is thoroughly worked around
reinforcement and other embedded items and into corners.
- Slab surface shall be brought to the correct level with a straight edge and strike
off. Bull floats or debris shall be used to smooth the surface, leaving it free of
humps or hollow. Water shall not be sprinkled in the plastic surface. Slab
surfaces shall not be disturbed prior to beginning finishing operations

8.5.5 Bonding
- Surface of set concrete shall be roughened at all joints, except where bonding
is obtained by use of concrete bonding agent and surfaces cleaned of laitance,
coatings, loose particles and foreign matter. Surfaces shall be roughened in
manner to expose bonded aggregate uniformly and not to leave laitance, loose
particles of aggregate or damaged concrete at the surface.
- Bonding of fresh concrete to new concrete that has set but is not fully cured
shall be prepared as follows:
a. Dampen, but do not saturates the roughened and cleaned surface of set
concrete and apply a coat of neat cement grout.
b. Use neat cement grout consisting of equal parts. Portland cement and fine
aggregate by weigh and not more than 24 liters of water per sack of cement.
Apply with a stiff broom or brush to a minimum thickness of 2mm. Deposit
fresh concrete before cement grout has attained its initial set.
c. In lieu of neat cement grout, bonding grout may be a commercial bonding
agent. Apply to cleaned concrete surfaces in accordance with printed
instruction of bonding material manufacturer.
- Bonding of fresh concrete to full-cured hardened concrete of existing concrete
shall be prepared by using an epoxy-resin bonding agent.
a. Handle and store epoxy-resin adhesive binder in compliance with the
manufactures printed instruction s including safety precautions.
b. Mix the epoxy-resin adhesive binder in the proportions recommended by

c. Before depositing fresh concrete, thoroughly roughen and clean hardened


concrete surfaces and coat with epoxy-resin grout not less than 2mm thick.
Place fresh concrete while the epoxy-resin material is still tacky, without
removing the in-place grout coat and as directed by the epoxy-resin
manufacturer

8.5.6 Hot Water Placing


- When hot weather conditions exist that would seriously impair the quantity and
strength of concrete, concrete shall be placed in compliance with ACI 305.
- Ingredients shall be cooled before mixing to maintain concrete temperature at
time of placement below 35 °C degrees Celsius. Mixing water may be chilled,
or flaked ice may be used to control the concrete temperature provided the
water equivalent to the ice is calculated in the total amount of mixing water.
Readings shall be made immediately before concrete is placed.
- Reinforcing steel shall be covered with water-soaked burlap if it becomes
excessively hot so that the steel temperature will not exceed the ambient air
temperature immediately before embedment in concrete.
- Forms shall thoroughly wet before placing concrete

8.6 FINISHING

8.6.1 The finishing of concrete shall be accordance with ACI301-16, and ACI 117 unless
otherwise specified in the construction drawings or job specification.

8.6.2 Equipment bases shall be finished with a floated finish, stairs, steps, ramps and
walks shall be finish with a broom finish.

8.7 CONCRETE CURING AND PROTECTION

8.7.1 Structural concrete shall be cured in accordance with recommendations of ACI


301-16 unless otherwise specified.

8.7.2 Maximum total dissolved solids in water used for curing shall not exceed 1000
parts per million.

8.7.3 Water curing shall be continuous until the compressive strength has reached 70%
of the specified strength, but not less than 7 days.

8.7.4 The saturated burlaps shall be covered with plasticized sheet vapor barrier,
minimum 0.15mm (6mils) in thickness and shall be kept in contact with the
concrete surface at all times.

8.7.5 Curing Compound shall be in accordance with ASTM C309 or equivalent. Vendors
shall supply data sheet including third party test reports.

8.7.6 Curing compound shall not be used on surfaces that shall receive bonded
treatments, tiles, paint or other adhered finishes, epoxy toppings, or additional
concrete unless otherwise specified in contract documents.

8.7.7 During the curing period, concrete shall be protected from damaging mechanical
disturbances including load stress, heavy shock, and excessive vibration and from

damage caused by rain or following water. All finishes concrete surfaces shall be
protected from damage by subsequent construction operation.

8.8 COATING AND PROTECTION

8.8.1 Unless otherwise specified in the IFC drawings, 50mm thickness of lean concrete
shall be placed beneath concrete foundation or 0.15mm thickness of plasticized
sheet vapor barrier shall be placed beneath pre-cast concrete foundation.

8.8.2 Concrete surfaces up to grade level shall be coated with two coats of coal tar
epoxy or bitumen coating that conforms to APCS-3 or APCS-10 of SAES-H-003
respectively.

8.8.3 Concrete surfaces up to 300mm above grade level shall be coated with epoxy or
epoxy polyurethane that conforms to APCS-1B or APCS-1E of SAES-H-003.

9. INSPECTION AND TESTING


- The contactor shall employ independent Saudi Aramco approved testing agency to perform field
and laboratory testing which shall include compressive test of molded concrete cylinder, test for
slump, unit weight, air content and fresh concrete temperature.
- Concrete aggregate testing requirement and frequency shall conform to 09-SAMSS-088.
- Request for Inspection should be initiated by company approved contractor QC Inspector 24
hours prior to the intended inspection.
- The required compressive strength test in accordance with ASTM C39/C39 shall be as fallow:
a. Test one set of laboratory-cured specimens at 7 days and one set of specimens at 28 days.
b. Test one set of field cured specimen at 7 days and one set of specimen at 28 days.
- Include the related SATIP and SAIC to this method statement.
