Q1. Big Orange Trucking is designing an information system for use on "in-
cab" communications. It must summarize data from eight sites throughout a
region to describe typical conditions. Compute an appropriate measure of
central location for each of the three variables shown in the table (20 Marks)

Q2. Use Hypothesis test to examine the following real-life problems which is
listed below: (15 marks)

The marketing sales between two sectors. For example, necessary

products such as food sales, and luxury products such as car sales in the
time of the coronavirus period.

Q3. A sample of 20 American cities showed the correlation between the

population of the city and its unemployment rate was 0.237. (15 marks)
1. Does unemployment rate seem to increase as the size of the
population increases? How can you tell?
2. How much of the variation in the unemployment rate is accounted
for by the variation in the population?
3. At the .01 significanpe level, is it reasonable to conclude there is
positive association between the unemployment rate and the
population?

Quastion1 :

Wind direction: Mode would be the most appropriate measure because this variable is
nominal-level.

Mode = [Southwest] (value that appears most frequently)\

Temperature: The mean would be an appropriate measure of this variable because there
are no outliers in the data to skew the result.

Pavement: Mode would be the most appropriate measure because this variable is
nominal-level.

Mode = bimodal Dry, Wet (values that appear most frequently)

Quastion2:
Generally it has been assumed that Since the advent of couid 19 around the world the Sales of
essential commodities have increased while that of luxury items have decreased so there must be
negative Calculation between the two we will conduct two Sample test for the two. judging the
Calculation between ( Sales all vehicles us sales of Essential food products)

calculating P- value at

dt = 4 ( 6-2 = 4)

and m score - -0. 217

we get P = 0.04 as P<x

We reg. reject hull hypothesis hence there is a negative calculation between the two Since advent of
COVID

Quastion3 :

1) The correlation coefficient between population of the city and unemployment rate is 0.237.
Since the correlation coefficient is positive therefore we can say that the two variables are
positively correlated. When there is positive correlation between two variables, the value of
one variable increases as the value of the other variable increases.

Now since the correlation is positive we can say that as the size of the population increases
the unemployment rate increases.

2) The value of r2 tells us that what percentage of variation in the dependent variable is
accounted for by the independent variable.

We have, r = 0.237
r2 = (0.237)2
r2 ≈ 0.0562
Hence about 5.62% of variation in the unemployment rate is accounted for by the variation in
the population.
