Aim
To show that energy is conserved in all energy transfers but some may be
wasted. This waste is usually as heat.

Teaching notes
This is a simple activity sheet designed to lead the students through the idea of
energy conservation in transfers.
The first question helps them understand the language used to describe energy
transfers.
The second checks that they can perform the simple calculations required.
Basic addition and subtraction skills are required. The numbers in the table may
be changed to increase to decrease the challenge. For example the concept of
kilojoules may be used.

Teaching assistants
Assist with the calculations where necessary.
