IV. Procedure
I. HANDWASHING
Hand washing is an easy way to prevent infection. It is a simple habit that can
help keep you healthy. Learn the benefits of good hand hygiene, when to wash your
hands and how to clean them properly.
Hand washing is something most people do without thinking. Yet hand
washing, when done properly, is one of the best ways to avoid getting sick. This
simple habit requires only soap and warm water or an alcohol-based hand sanitizer
— a cleanser that doesn't require water.
II. PRINCIPLES
V. EVALUATION
A 15-item quiz will be given as an evaluation for learners. The test is composed of
two types: Identification and Enumeration. These two types of test aim to determine the
learner’s acquisition of knowledge and to determine if the students have achieved the
remembering and understanding level of cognitive dimension.
I. Identification
__________1. It is an easy way to prevent infection.
__________2. The duration of standard handwashing.
__________3. The amount of liquid soap used in handwashing.
__________4. The temperature of water in handwashing.
__________5. The most important element of handwashing
II. Enumeration
1-5. give the 5 moments of handwashing as mandated by WHO and DOH
6-10. give the 5 easy steps of handwashing
Answers
I. Identification
1. Handwashing
2. 15-25 seconds
3. 2-4 ml
4. at least 100˚F (38˚C)
5. friction
II. Enumeration
1-5. 5 moments of handwashing as mandated by WHO and DOH
-before patient contact
-after patient contact
-after contact with blood and body fluids
-after contact with patient’s environment
-before performing procedures and treatment
VI. ASSIGNMENT
Learners are expected to memorize the steps in handwashing, its principles and
a return demonstration will be done next meeting.
