Introduction:
Students should carry out an activity to determine the pH value of various ingredients in daily
life such as soapy water, carbonated beverages, coffee, ‘teh tarik’, lemon juice, and so on. You
need a pH indicator to identify those ingredients whether they are acidic, alkaline or neutral.
Other than the pH indicators available in chemical laboratories, you need prepare your own pH
indicators using natural ingredients.
Objectives:
Understand and appreciate the importance of the use of chemicals in daily life, especially
involving ionic compounds as well as covalent compounds. Most substances found in daily life
contain acids or alkaline. Determining the pH value can be determined by providing own pH
indicator and can be carried out at homes.

Instructions
1.All Form 4 students who take Chemistry subjects are required to do a PBL task which is
preparing their own pH indicator using _________ and make a report (Folio)
2. This project is carried out individually.
3. Each student is free to choose the material they want to use to make a pH indicator.
4. The period of performing tasks is for 14 days, which starts on from 1 Sep until 14 Sep 2021
5.Project results and INDIVIDUAL folio must be sent on 14 Sep 2021 (Tuesday)
6. Complete assignments include INDIVIDUAL folio and project results, i.e. pH indicator juice.
