1. Course Aims and Objectives:

This course will examine and critically analyze the multifaceted phenomenon
known as leadership. While sharing a number of personalities and attributes,
leaders also possess various arts and skills. The goal of this course is to provide the
students with a better understanding of these personalities, attributes, arts and skills,
and to assess their proper role. Through studying experiences of different political,
business, cultural and social leaders, students can have a better picture of what
leadership is.

2. Assesssment:

Book Report 40%


Final Examination (Take-Home) 60%

Book Report

Each student is requested to review a biography of any world political, business, social and
cultural leaders and submit a book report. The report should be submitted on 5th Nov.
In this report, student is requested to

i) sum up the successful (or unsuccessful) experiences and leadership lessons of this leader
suggested by the author of the book;
ii) discuss whether you agree with these viewpoints;
iii) finally, draw relevant lessons which can be applied to local leaders or you.

Minimal no of words: 12,000 words (Chinese) or 6,000 words (English)

performance on all required assignments and learning outcomes.

leaders’ personalities, attributes, arts and skills, and to assess their proper role) with a good overall performance
on all required assignments and learning outcomes, or high performance on some required assignments and
learning outcomes which compensates for less satisfactory performance on others, resulting in overall good
performance.
