The Sun ☉

Introduction:
The Sun is the most important planet is
astrology being the natural Aatma-
Karka or soul significator in person’s
chart , the archetypal masculine
planet, having the element of fire, and
Pitta Dosha (according to Ayurveda).
Also being the natural Father
archetype. It rules three Nakshatras
according to Vimshottari dasha system.
• Kritika
• Uttara phalguni
• Uttara Ashada

☉ The Sun’s glyph is a circle with a dot in the middle. The circle is
life. The dot in the middle of the circle is symbolic of the fact that the
Sun is the center of all things in life. The center of life is your identity
– the core of your conscious awareness
• The Sun governs the fire element in the body, providing light,
heat and color on all levels.
• It rules over all Pitta systems as a whole from the digestive
system to the eyes and the perceptive aspect of the mind.
• The Sun is the general indicator of our physical vitality and the
positive reflector of our Prana or vital energy, which comes
from the Sun as the bestower of all life.
• A well-placed and strong Sun in the birth chart indicates good
health and strong resistance to disease,
• while a weak or afflicted Sun causes health and vitality
problems, generally of a chronic or persistent nature starting
with weak digestion and poor metabolism. (also causing obesity
at times).
‘The Sun is the center of the entire solar system, the source of all
our light and heat.’
If you expand on that sentence you will
understand everything the astrological Sun
controls:
o The Soul
o Health
o Authority Figures
o Your Public Role / Career
o How you like yourself
o Strength in the world
The sun represents *self*.
This, like anything, has positive and negative
possible implications.
Self could mean “selfish” or self could mean “self-realization.”
By symbolizing “self” the sun symbolizes *both* polarities, the good
and the bad.
Determining which polarity comes out, and to what extent, in a
giving individual’s birth chart depends on being able to see how
positive or negative the Sun is in that chart – which results from a
few factors, most important of which are:
o house
o sign placement
o overall dignity
o aspects and conjunctions that affect the sun.
What is a “soul” ?
• It sounds like a religious term, only because religion uses that
word a lot.
• Consciousness, and self-awareness are less religious sounding
words which pretty much mean the exact same thing as “soul.”
• Consciousness is just like light, because both light and
consciousness allow you to see things.
• The Sun controls the source of that awareness: which is the
definition of the word “soul.” In the West, the proper name for
the Sun is “Sol.”
• So the Sun is your soul, and therefore– Your identity or “ego”–
What you are aware of and how “aware” you are.
• Ego, or self-concept, is a spontaneous and natural result of
being aware.
o Yes you can say “too much” ego. Self-absorption and
“egomania” are products of a malefic astrological Sun.
The natural Sun creates self-confidence and a clear sense
of self.

Surya is depicted with a Chakra, also interpreted as Dharmachakra.

Surya is the lord of Simha (Leo), one of the twelve constellations in
the zodiac system of Hindu astrology.
Surya or Ravi is the basis of Ravivara, or Sunday, in the Hindu
calendar.

Sun also rules the Solar plexus chakra which is associated

with digestive system, fire in one’s body and also about
one’s personal power.
The sun and it’s 12 names
In India, astrology gives 12 different names to the Sun. There are 12
months (because there are 12 full moons during the course of a year)
and during each month, the Sun moves into a new zodiac
constellation (of which there are 12, therefore). There is a different
name for the Sun depending on which sign he moves into that
month.
1. Mitra: This name is given to the Sun when he moves into Aries,
where he is exalted and therefore at his most generous and
friendly.
2. Ravi: In Taurus (the feminine home of Venus) the sun exhibits his
brilliant beauty.
3. Surya: Giver of Beauty, in Gemini the Sun concentrates on making
people beautiful so they may enjoy one another.
4. Bhanu: Catalyst of Emotion, in Cancer (the 4th sign, feminine
home of the emotional Moon) the Sun becomes the spark which
ignites deep emotion
5. Khaga: In Leo (the Sun’s own sign) the Sun becomes royal and
kingly, an object of awe and reverence.
6. Pushna: Nourisher, In Virgo (the 6th sign) the Sun destroys

source of moral fortune. Here the Sun illuminates the correct
path.
10.Savitra: The Arouser, Capricorn is the 10th sign of the zodiac,
which is equivalent to the 10th House, which represents noon.
Here the Sun wakes us and arouses our external impulses
11.Arka: Flash of Warmth, In Aquarius (11th sign) the Sun flashes
warmth to the world
12.Bhaskara: Liberator, In Pisces (12th sign) the Sun illuminates the

Sun Dominant natives

Sun beauty type comes from averageness and symmetry, Men

ruled by this planet are usually not overly aggressive or masculine.
The body type is lean with usually abundance oh hair on body with a
slight balding. As the original sun is one with very few hair on body.
But they usually maintain body and facial hair.
A man if you bring home, your father will approve of him.
Men ruled by this archetype are usually considered the hottest and
most desirable as women are being lunar beings they naturally get
attracted to the abundance of masculinity these men naturally tend
to acquire.
Not only women but even men tend to idealize these men as they
often become the idols of young boys who grow up basing their
masculinity on these men.
These will be the men you’ll see most complaining about how
emotional women are and prefer company of other men as male
comradery or bromances.
They’re truly the men who are highly independent, cool in nature
and calm even in the most stressful situations.
If you look at magazines or ‘how to be a man’ magazines you’ll often
see the examples of sun men.
These natives are highly independent and usually with little to no
care for the world, as sun being the only planet creating it’s own so,
it’s in-debt to no one.
These men are least prone to having expectations from anyone, as
they truly don’t want anything out of anyone.
They tend to have high levels of testosterone, making their lips thin
most of the times.
They’re the stereotypical ‘cool man’, with no worries or never
displaying emotions and always maintaining a cool persona.
“He delights in his own resources, and desires no joys greater than
his own inner joys”.
There’s no schism between inner feeling and outer behavior.
Usually focusing more on logic and the masculine principle not being
very emotionally driven or fluctuating.
Sun being the natural luminary gives its light to everyone without
biases, quite opposite to Saturn-which tends to calculate and
discriminate equating things to different values. But this giving it to
everyone nature tends to limit them from creating any actual
intimacy or emotional depth as they never truly fixate on one
person rather giving energy to everyone. They’re also most likely to
end up divorced or be cheating in relationships if felt being
controlled but they’re usually very honest with the woman, even
bachelors.
The classic man’s man showing little to
no emotions and mocking or pushing the
chance to show any actual real depth
Please note that this may not always be
the case because other planets are
always at work as well.
They always make other appear irrational
in comparison- especially women
Sun natives are in sense are like the
Cosmic fathers with Uttara Ashada being
the ‘elevated male ancestors’ and Uttara
phalguni being the play fellow, close friend or companion.

The true guru relates to the sun the higher soul, The guru of an
individual is analogous to the tutelary deity or patron god/goddess of
the person and a part of the cosmic force of nature that then guides
that person.
The Shakti Bhija ‘Aim’ of the planet Mercury also associated with
Mahavidya Matangi is said to heal the properties of sun in a person’s
chart.
The bhija aim is the bhija said to connect you to your guru, thus
highlighting that the guru is solar force of inner light and ones
connection to it.
Sun men can’t ever be truly be held down therefore never tying
themselves to one partner, sun is opposite to the planet of moon
which emphasizes on devotion and enemy to Saturn which is exalted
in libra which is the natural sign of partnerships and marriage.
Considering all these factors sun men are a lot of times found
jumping from one partner to another or always having commitment
issues with their partners. They tend to have a lot of partners.
With all these observations we can say to some extent that toxic
masculinity is charged and created by sun men, but enforced by
other men trying to act more solar, Rahu and mars men especially.
Worshipped by lunar women.
Sun men are most likely to be confused as to ‘‘what a woman really
want?’’ or be called sexist.
Mostly solar men end up going for solar women or women with
more yang qualities because they tend to embody the same solar
qualities which sun men enjoy deeply.
Even Saturn women tend to attract solar men’s attentions due to
their cold and un-compromising nature.
Solar men are also most likely to be distant from their own children
as children are solar beings which are highly dependent-exactly the
qualities sun men hate.
This is also the reason why they’re quite disruptive to the regulating
elements of the society, in that they are ones who often who do not
stay with their wives and children and then other male types end up
taking care of their child, giving away to the whole idea of “beta-
bux”. Men who women go to for stability after having had something
more short-term with a sun man—that 20% of men sleeping 80% of
the women.
This is why even though sun is the father in astrology whilst Jupiter
the nourishment you get from the father. Jupiter is also the natural
step-father archetype.
As a deeper understanding we can consider that men are not truly
solar unless they align themselves with the force of the sun and
imitate his traits and this is how they become real.
The solar male path means that like Pinochhio who nose grows
bigger has he lies and must rid himself of deceptive and illusory
aspects which are lunar in nature. that if left inside his character
would cause him to lose the chance that his the father the sun gave
hum by creating and developing a soul.
Sun dominant being so naturally fulfilled and bathed in their own
light, also tend to be the least materialistic in nature, always
promoting minimalism and also statistically least likely to be rich,
which of course depends on other factors as well.
This also brings into attention on some studies done which
concluded that those with more emotions tend to be more
materialistic and those with more emotional stability do not care as
much about material things.
Those with emotional instability or franticness try to derive
happiness from extrinsic things such as money.
In Vedic astrology is ruled is by goddess Laxmi which is also
associated with Venus, thus concluding that wealth is more of a Yin
quality, which solar men almost aggressively tend to oppose.
According to Advaytaraka Upanishad- The syllable gu means
darkness, the syllable ru, he who dispels them. Because of the power
to dispel darkness, the guru is thus named.

Sun Dominant Women

Talking about solar women, they’re highly independent, fierce and
feminists. They’re truly the women who’d end up supporting other
women. Never truly dependent on their partners, not the classical
idea of how women behave.
They have the greatest moral compass and fight for their believes.
Morality and goodness is very important for them.
They take care of themselves and usually maintain their beauty the
most. Solar women are the hardest to pin down and marriage is
mostly the last thing they do. Unless it’s embedded in her moral
compass.
Even though being strong willed they’re not the ones to be called
loud, they almost naturally demand and receive authority and often
find respect amongst their male counter parts. Because of their
highly independent and dignified nature.
They’re often called masculine and tend to become providers for the
more submissive and Yin natives. In terms of dating they’re the least
likely to be clingy and barely tend to settle down, as they are quite
full and complete with their own selves.
Very decisive and confident and won’t let other people undervalue
them. Their strong drive is felt by people around and that’s why
they’re always on their best behavior.
Just like solar men, solar women indulge in women-hood and sister
hood the most, always supporting women around them without
really feeling any jealousy or competition.
These women are the most likely to be intellectuals and logical and
excel at all types of “men’s jobs”.
Least likely to interact with alcohol or substance abuse.
As a conclusion Solar natives and in turn sun itself is the epitome of
harnessing self power through ones own light and having a carefree
calm attitude usually very pleasing to lunar beings and archetypes of
man-hood. Sun is truly independent and dispels all illusions which
are more lunar or Yin. Never submitting to lunar forces or
restrictions, pushing away almost all things they consider irrational
or subjective. Only forming connections with people who can
actually generate their own light or stand their ground against the
immense power these natives yield.
In my personal opinion. Solar qualities tend to flourish more
positively in women than men, but nonetheless they both still suffer
relationship and commitment issues, famously known for being hot
and single.
