1.What are the three (3) things that you have significantly learned from the reading?
a. Before reading the article and understanding the lesson, I assumed that emotional
intelligence was only beneficial to ourselves. However, after reading the article and
understanding the lesson, I now understand that emotional intelligence's goal is to
promote positive social functioning by assisting individuals in detecting others'
emotional states, adopting new perspectives, improving communication, and regulating
behavior.
b. Before reading the article and understanding the lesson, I assumed that emotional
intelligence was solely concerned with each person's emotions. However, after reading
the article and understanding the lesson, I now understand that there are two areas of
psychological research that emerged more than four decades ago. Our own intelligence
began to be viewed as a more comprehensive set of mental abilities. It includes the
abilities to access one's own emotional life as well as the ability to monitor the emotions
and moods of others.
c. Before reading the article and understanding the lesson, I used to believe that there
were only a few published performance tests that measured distinct components of
emotional intelligence before reading the article/understanding the lesson. However,
after reading the article and understanding the lesson, I realize that there are already a
plenty of performance tests available to assess various aspects of emotional
intelligence.
