How do you factor in the Emotional Intelligences (their presence and absence)
among your team members? Is it possible?
I am of the opinion that Emotional Intelligence is influential in any project. At the end of the
day, people are executing projects, and people are subject to emotions. Those emotions
affect the individuals and how they work. In the article of Bailey (2015), the author describe
emotional intelligence as "Emotional stability, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Ability EI,
Cognitive ability, General self-efficacy and Self-rated job performance" (Bailey, 2015).
Emotional intelligence is, to be specific, the ability to control and master successfully those
emotions and the emotional changes (Bailey, 2015).
I think it is clear that emotions and emotional intelligence influence the success of project:
let's think of a team that has to work together, and we see that extraversion is at some level
important in order for the team to work together as a group.
Emotional Intelligence probably is an aspect of people oriented leaders and of people
oriented leadership style (Larman, 2015). In a position of leadership, the leader should be
able to guide and manage the employees also according to their emotions.
Emotional Intelligence is probably measured in an abstract way, but it materializes in the
results obtained by the employees. If the leader manage to motivate an employee even
when he is unmotivated, that is a sign of a successful and high emotional intelligence
(Larman, 2015).
If you believe you can explain what you would do to take advantage of it.
A possible way to take advantage of emotional intelligence in the workplace is
to understand what the employees are feeling and experiencing, what are their desires, and
place them in the role that most satisfy their emotional need. An employee that has high
conscientiousness and high cognitive ability will probably be better placed in a busy and
important role, instead of an easy and relaxed role, because in this way the employee can
feel more satisfied of his work.
The author suggests that there has been some debate whether EI is something that can be
developed, or whether a person just ‘has’ it. What do you think? Explain your position.
I think emotional intelligence can be learned and developed. In fact, Cherry (2020)
reports that "Some researchers suggest that emotional intelligence can be
learned and strengthened", even though there are an equal number of researches that
indicate emotional intelligence is an innate ability (Cherry, 2020).

Neubauer, A. and Freudenthaler, H. (2005). Models of emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence:
An international handbook, 31-50
Emotional Intelligence (EI) is the ability to recognize and manage one's own emotions as well as the
emotions of others (Peter, 2010). Emotional Intelligence is commonly associated with three types of
abilities. First and foremost, the ability to name and recognize one's own emotions (Neubauer and
Freudenthaler, 2005). Second, to use one's own emotions in activities like brainstorming and
problem-solving (Holt and Wood, 2016). Finally, to regulate one's own emotions while also assisting
others in doing so (Sinha, 2014).
Job performance measures how well employees carry out their responsibilities (Jacobs, Hellman, and
Markowitz, 2013). It is one of the most important indicators of an organization's success (Haddadi &
Yaghoobi, 2014). KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) are used to determine job performance, with
different KPIs used in different industries (Parmenter, 2015).
In this assignment I will comprehend and assess the impact of EI on job performance.
Any project benefits from emotional intelligence because people working on it experience emotions.
These feelings have an impact on the people and their productivity. Emotional stability,
conscientiousness, extraversion, ability EI, cognitive ability, general self-efficacy, and self-rated job
performance are all examples of emotional intelligence, according to Bailey (2015). (Bailey, 2015). To
be more precise, emotional intelligence is the capacity to successfully manage one's emotions and
emotional changes (Bailey, 2015). It is obvious that feelings and emotional intelligence have an
impact on a project's success. For example, if you look at a team that needs to collaborate, you can
see that extraversion
Understanding what employees are feeling and experiencing, what their desires are, and putting
them in the role that best satisfies their emotional need are some potential ways to make use of
emotional intelligence in the workplace. Instead of an easy and relaxed role, an employee with high
conscientiousness and cognitive ability will likely perform better in a busy and important role
because he or she will feel more fulfilled by his or her work in this situation.
Emotional Intelligence, Developed or innate talent?
It is not a natural talent to have emotional intelligence. Yes, some individuals are born with the
ability to better understand and manage their emotions. You can, however, raise your emotional
intelligence. Unfortunately, the term "emotional intelligence" is misleading. In fact, Cherry (2020)
notes that despite the fact that an equal number of studies suggest emotional intelligence is an
innate talent, "some researchers suggest that emotional intelligence can be learned and
strengthened" (Cherry, 2020).
Conclusions
A fundamental factor that guarantees employee job satisfaction and subsequently boosts an
organization's overall productivity is emotional intelligence. The relationship between emotional
intelligence and job satisfaction was found to be moderately positive by many researchers. Integrity,
emotional stability, self-development, managing relationships, and altruistic behaviour were found
to be five dimensions of emotional intelligence that significantly predict job satisfaction. It is
abundantly clear that emotional intelligence and job satisfaction are directly correlated; the higher
one's emotional intelligence, the higher one's level of job satisfaction.
