    GATE AIR (1-40)

    You can expect direct admission into IISC and IIT Bombay without any interview.

    GATE AIR (40-100)


    You may get a call from IIT Bombay and IIT Kanpur. They will shortlist the
    candidate for a technical interview.

    Direct admission: You can get a direct admission call from IIT Chennai, IIT
    Kharagpur.

    GATE AIR (100-400)


    IIT Delhi and IIT Kanpur can ask you for technical interviews.

    Direct admission: Following is the list of IIT colleges that can offer you direct
    admission based on your GATE rank.

     IIT Hyderabad

     IIT Gauhati

    In the list of Top Engineering colleges ranked by NIRF, IIT Madras bags the First
    spot.

    GATE AIR (400-700)


    IIT Bombay offers a 3-year degree apart from its regular MTech. It’s the best time
    to try your luck if it’s your dream to get into IIT Bombay. Admission for this
    course mostly based on the technical interview.

    With this rank, you can expect a call from IIT Kanpur for an interview.

    In this rank, you can opt for the top NIT colleges as well. You can expect direct
    admission to NIT Trichy, NIT Warangal. Apart from IIT and NIT, ISI Kolkata is
    one of the top listed colleges you can prefer.

    According to top engineering colleges ranked by NIRF ranking, NIT Trichy tops
    above all other NIT colleges in India.

    GATE AIR (700-1200)


    Here, the door will open for considering admission to NIT colleges.

    You can prefer the colleges as the preference (from top to bottom).

    There are lower NIT colleges you can prefer with this rank.

    After NITs, there are many emerging IIIT colleges. You can pick IIIT Bangalore or
    IIIT Delhi over other lower-ranked NIT colleges.

     NIT Surat

     JNV Delhi

    College Cutoff for GATE AIR 3000 and above


    For the rank above 3000, it is difficult to get into any of the NIT colleges. If you
    want to perceive your master, you can give a choice among the below colleges.

     All Central universities(UOH, Jadhavpur, etc)

    IISC BANGALORE, IIT MUMBAI (1ST GROUP)
    IISc Bangalore is a premier institute located in the southern part of India. It is known for its amazing
    campus and is also popular for having a dedicated section for Nano Science and Engineering. IISc
    also is a centre of hyper-sonic studies and is the home to the most acclaimed J.R.D Tata Library.
    IISc offer ME, Mtech & MS program. The campus is majorly known for its research programs. For
    direct admission in ME program you are required to have your rank from 1 to 50.

    IIT Mumbai was decreed to be institute of national importance. This institution is strategically well
    located and thus offers good placements & research support. Most of the courses offered in IIT
    Mumbai require all India GATE Rank between 1 to 200.

    Expected GATE Score Required

     General - 850 + (Direct Admission) - 750 + (For Interview)


     OBC - 750 + (Direct Admission) - 650 + (Interview)
     SC - 500 + (Direct Admission) - 600 + (Interview)
     ST - 400 + (Direct Admission) - 600 + (Interview)

    IITD, IITM, IITK, IITKGP, NITIE (2ND GROUP)


    IIT Delhi, Madras, Kanpur and Kharagpur fall under group 2 institutions after IISc Bangalore & IIT
    Mumbai. IIT Delhi is known for good placements & research works. Also, many students target IES
    & Civil Exam choose IIT Delhi as many coaching institutes are present nearby IIT Delhi.

    IIT Kanpur is known for computational works. It offer good Aerospace & Fluid courses. Apart from
    this, IME (part of IIT Kanpur) also offer few Industrial & financial management course you can apply
    through GATE.

    IIT Madras is again a good option for students who are from south. This institute also offer good
    placement and have good courses in Industrial engineering.
    IIT Kharagpur is another good Institute offering good placements and have good faculties. Mostly
    upto GATE 400 rank can apply for Group 2 Institutes mainly in core branches. For Interdisciplinary
    branches the ranking can go upto 1000.

    NITIE offer good placements and is at part with other IIT's. NITIE runs an Industrial Management
    program through GATE which is of very high demand.

    Expected GATE Score Required

     General - 750 + (Direct Admission) - 700 + (For Interview)


     OBC - 650 + (Direct Admission) - 600 + (Interview)
     SC - 400 + (Direct Admission) - 500 + (Interview)
     ST - 350 + (Direct Admission) - 400 + (Interview)

    IITR, IITBHU, IIT GUWAHATI, IIT HYDERABAD (3RD GROUP)


    IIT Roorkee, BHU & Hyderabad fall under group three Institutes. IIT Hyderabad is the only new IIT
    which is progressing at a faster rate. This Institute offers good placement and have availability of
    good faculty. Students with GATE Rank upto 750 can apply to these

    Institutes. Expected GATE Score Required

     General - 700+ (Direct Admission) - 650 + (For Interview)


     OBC - 600+ (Direct Admission) - 550 + (Interview)
     SC - 350 + (Direct Admission) - 400 + (Interview)
     ST - 300 + (Direct Admission) - 350 + (Interview)

    NIT'S SURATKAL, WARANGAL & TRICHY (4TH GROUP)


    If you don't get a call from any of the above IIT's then we would suggest you to apply for these NIT's
    rather than new IIT's. These institutes offer better Infrastructure and placements in comparison to
    new IIT's. The GATE Rank these colleges is expected to be around 1000.

    Expected GATE Score Required

     General - 650+ (Direct Admission) - 600 + (For Interview)


     OBC - 750 + (Direct Admission) - 650 + (Interview)
     SC - 500 + (Direct Admission) - 600 + (Interview)
     ST - 300 + (Direct Admission) - 350 + (Interview)

    OTHER NIT'S, NEW IIT (5TH GROUP)


    After top three NIT's, New IIT's and other NIT's falls in ranking. The expected GATE Rank for these
    colleges is somewhere around 1500.

     General - 600+ (Direct Admission) - 550 + (For Interview)


     OBC - 550+ (Direct Admission) - 550 + (Interview)
     SC - 300 + (Direct Admission) - 400 + (Interview)
     ST - 300 + (Direct Admission) - 350 + (Interview)

    IIIT (6TH GROUP)


    IIIT's also offer good Infrastructure and placements specially IIIT Delhi, Bangalore etc. These
    Institutes are strategically well located and thus many companies visit these colleges for campus
    placements. You must have GATE rank in the range of 1500-2000 to apply for IIIT's.

    Expected GATE Score Required

     General - 600+ (Direct Admission) - 550 + (For Interview)


     OBC - 550+ (Direct Admission) - 500 + (Interview)
     SC - 300 + (Direct Admission) - 400 + (Interview)
     ST - 300 + (Direct Admission) - 350 + (Interview)

    COEP, BITS, VIT ETC (7TH GROUP)


    College of Engineering, Pune, BIT's - Pilani and Goa has good infrastructure and research facilities.
    The GATE Rank required to apply for these institutes is close to 2000.

     General - 500+ (Direct Admission) - 450 + (For Interview)


     OOBC - 450+ (Direct Admission) - 500 + (Interview)
     SC - 250 + (Direct Admission) - 400 + (Interview)
     ST - 250 + (Direct Admission) - 350 + (Interview)

    If your Rank is not that good and you are not able to get admission in any of the above colleges than
