elcome to the 2nd Edition of Silicon
Indias Top 100 Engineering Colleges,
2011. This year apart from Engineering
Colleges, we are also covering M.Tech
Colleges. It is evident that IITs, NITs
and few other premier engineering colleges alone cannot
churn out enough engineers to meet this need and it is here
the other engineering colleges, private and public, play their
role. But with new technology institutes mushrooming in
every nook and corner of the country, a dilemma about the
quality of education arises for both IT organizations who
are looking for good engineers and students who want to
pursue a career in this industry.
We at SiliconIndia, with our 15 years of media expertise
and expose to IT and related technology space, understand
that despite the infrastructure, faculty, fee structure and
other criteria, the sole parameter of judging a college's qual-
ity is the performance of its graduates in the industry, which
in turn can be measured by the pay package commanded
by them. Thus, this list is entirely based on a single param-
eter - CTC of a graduate. after five years of work experi-
ence
Me thodology:
To rank the best engineering colleges, a perceptual study
was conducted among HR managers, Recruitment firms
and job boards. The companies/institutes were chosen care-
fully to ensure that the HR managers/professionals inter-
viewed were involved with recruitment and had a fair idea
about the market. Over 3000 engineers who Graduated in
the year 2005 and did not pursue any other course/program
a rewards were interviewed across the six metros-Delhi,
Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chennai.
After an exhaustive research and analysis, we finally came
up with a list of top 100 engineering institutes (govt/pri-
vate) in three streams - Computer Science, Electronics and
Communication and Mechanical Engineering. Apart from
this we also formed a list top 10 institutes across India in

Your institution has a distinct character.
Do HR managers understand howyour college differs from
that of your peers?
Do your students or faculty identify themselves with
unique aspects of your institution?
Very often the first contact that people have with the College is through images
and materials that they see. A strong brand image helps people remember us.
Research shows that the key to name recognition is consistent, frequent presen-
tations over time.
So here's an opportunity for you articulate the institutions value in the education
marketplace. SiliconIndia will help you bring your college vision to life and raise
your institution's profile in the eyes of the industry leaders, students, faculty &
administrators. This is an opportunity for you to say whats so special about your
institution.
We can feature your college in 'College Spotlight' section that appears in the
Campus Buzz in SiliconIndia.com. Our Editorial team will interview yourself
and other key members of your college and build a story such that it truly
reflects the uniqueness of your college. We will work with you to position
the story in such a way that expresses your image in ways that reflects
the experience and strengthens your institution's brand. The profile will
enable the readers to accurately capture and convey your institution's
essence and differentiates it from other institutions.
We would also focus on the institution's vision, philosophy and future plans.
We will also talk about your leadership and the challenges in steering
the institution.

VISIBILITY: Getting featured in College Spotlight might seem like a simple
idea, but it is an extraordinarily effective way to communicate your mes-
sage to others. The Spotlight introduces your college to those who do not
yet know about you and create their first impression of your college. It will
help others see you as a College that knows itself and its strengths. Silicon-
India's reach in the technology industry, especially among the IT leaders
and HR managers, will ensure that you college brand stands out in their
minds.
IDENTITY: For those who do know our college, it reinforces your brand
image. It will let the students, faculty, administrators and alumni identify
themselves those unique characteristics which separate them from the
rest. When students, faculty, administrators and alumni see their college
being profiled by a leading media firm, they will feel proud of being
associated with a brand such as your college. It will motivate/ re-energise
them and reinforce their commitment to your brand.
VALUE
ENROLLMENT: Establishing a clear image will attract the faculty and
students. Future batch of students will be able to
differentiate between thousands of college options.
We help you communicate with hundreds
of HR managers and CEOs in the
technology space.
The vast majority of students in our college are local
students. Why do I need to brand?
It is precisely because a university degree is so important arguably the
most important item on ones CV for a good many years, if not ones whole
life that branding has an vital role to play. How an individual will market
him or herself on graduation will be affected enormously by the percep-
tion of the degree from that institution. You could say that the university/
college brand becomes part of the individuals own brand
So much is invested in students or other stakeholders making the right
choice that institutions have a responsibility to help ensure that this
happens.
We are sure you don't want to be part of the generic higher education
market. We would invite you to sign up for the 'College Spotlight' feature.
It will be our pleasure to feature your institution.

ngineering technology education
in India focuses primarily on the
applied aspects of science and
engineering aimed at preparing gradu-
ates for practice in that portion of the
technological spectrum closest to prod-
uct improvement, manufacturing, con-
struction, and engineering operational
functions. Engineering education is a
key enabler of Indias growth and a vital
element in shaping our national destiny.
We strongly believe that it teaches us not
only how to think but the principles by
which to live.
GHRCE is now an Autonomous
Institute committed to overall develop-
ments of our students. We are engineer-
ing excellence to create excellent
engineering careers. In this process of
transformation we are adopting the in-
novative educational methodologies for
academic excellence.
Today, with sprawling college
building, updated library, well-equipped
laboratories & workshop, and to cap
them all with a rare conglomeration of
highly qualified and experienced faculty,
the college is aspiring for global recog-
nition as well as global standards. With
the coveted status of Autonomy, we wish
to provide all the opportunities to our
students those shall lead to excellence.
We aim to provide Quality Engineering
Education to our students and wish to
keep no stone unturned for their better-
ment.
The academic curriculum is the
backbone of our educational system. Ut-
most efforts have been taken to design
this as per the current requirements of
technologies, industries and human re-
source development. The recommenda-
tions of National Knowledge
Commission are also followed. Our Ac-
ademic Council and Board of Studies
comprises of veteran academicians, re-
searchers, industrialists and stakehold-
ers. The members of our National Advi-
sory Board are esteemed personalities
like IIT Directors, NIT Directors, and
Scientists from Ministry of Information
Technology etc. We have inculcated the
strategy of extending the academic con-
tents to solve the real time problems. We
have taken care for adequacy of self
learning also.
The industrial internship and other
efforts taken for the enhancement of in-
dustry institute interaction will definitely
the students to undertake challenging
jobs in the industries. The interdiscipli-
nary course contents will help to in-
crease the scope of research domain
thereby increasing the standards of our
R&D system.
I am very much confident that the
autonomy conferred to GHRCE will
help to build tomorrows leading tech-
nocrats.
