Nonverbal communication

grasp the message of the
utterances by being aware that
the words or phrases contain
deeper meaning than literal
meaning of what is spoken.
Through speech acts, the
speaker can convey
physical action merely
through words and
phrases.
3 Speech Acts
There are three types of acts in the speech acts

Illocutionary
Locutionary Perlocutionary
Locutionary
This act happens with the
utterance of a sound, a word,
or even a phrase as a natural
unit of speech.
What is required for the
utterance to be locutionary act is
that is its "sense", has the same
meaning to both the speaker
and the listener.
Examples

Illocutionary
It is not just saying something
itself, but the act of saying
something with intention.
Stating an opinion, confirming or
denying something, Making a
prediction, a promise, a request,
issuing an order or a decision,
giving an advice or permission
are just examples of
Illocutionary.

Perlocutionary
This is seen when a particular
effect is sought from either the
speaker, the listener or both.
The aim of perlocutionary

Drama/Movie you chose. Translate it into English and identify the Speech Acts in the
dialogue of the specific Speech Context. Put your originals and Translated Dialogue in
Microsoft Word and upload them in the portal or put it in your flash drive.
