Foreword
The Department of Education (DepEd) maintained creating modules for blended learning a collective effort
which requires participation from teachers who will be using these in the upcoming school year. This
Module is protected by Republic Act No. 8293-Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines. An act
prescribing the intellectual property code and establishing the intellectual property office, providing for its
powers and functions, and for other purposes.
For students and educators, the COVID-19 Pandemic is a challenge for all, one for which there is no pre-
configured playbook that can guide appropriate responses. Education leaders must swiftly design responses
and with specific contexts in mind as the pandemic runs its course. This module provides a general
introduction to the nature of entrepreneurship and explains how the business function fits within the firm
overall. It is designed primarily as substitute to face to face learning and for ease of comprehension,
enabling high readability especially for Grade 12 students, while offering a depth of perspective that is
useful to daily life.
This module was written for you to accomplish at home. It was carefully designed so that you can work at
your own pace and allow self-discovery of the concept through activities that you will perform. Activities
were also selected to allow independent learning which also aims to develop students’ reading
comprehension skills through understanding written texts. Entrepreneurship is perceived to be the symbol
of innovation, determination, perseverance, and achievement. Considering the learning competencies that

EXPECTATIONS
It creates opportunities, ensures social justice, instills confidence, and stimulates the
economy. Entrepreneurship education is a superb lifelong learning process. The
entrepreneurs are often known as a source of new ideas or innovators and bring new
ideas in the market by replacing old with an invention.
Lifeline during Covid19; With strict lockdowns and high unemployment during the
pandemic, Filipinos were forced to rely on e-commerce activities or online shopping
and selling to meet their needs.
Today, starting your own online selling business is just a matter of few clicks.
However, without proper research, strategy, and planning, setting up a successful
online business is not possible. This course deals with the concepts, underlying
principles, processes, and implementation of a business plan. The preliminaries of
this course include the following: 1) discussion on the relevance of the course; 2)
explanation of key concepts of common competencies; 3) explanation of core
competencies relative to the course; and 4) exploration of career opportunities.

IMPACT OF THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC IN
IMPLICATIONS FOR BUSINESS
The world of entrepreneurship has changed dramatically in the last few months due to the global
pandemic. There is no doubt; COVID-19 will have an enduring impact on society long after
lockdown is over. Around the world, economies are cautiously reopening. Businesses are keeping
one eye firmly on the here and now but also tentatively looking ahead to what is shaping up as a
great reset. How do consumers buy? Are marketers responding? How should they respond? And
how might marketing change after the crisis?
Many current behavioral trends could persist toward touchless payment systems like mobile
payment and tap-to-pay at the payment portals like Online Banking, GCash, Pay Maya etc. In some
situations, as the community quarantine lessen its tight measures, consumers will be excited to
return to normal but also worry about social interaction since there are no vaccine readily available
in the market. Leaders will need to assess the broader situation and understand the perceptions and
behaviors of their specific customer segments. The long-term impact of the pandemic on
consumers’ views of business is that we can already see many companies adjusting their
messaging, incentives, and value propositions. Consumers will monitor, remember, and appreciate
brands’ empathy like donating to food banks, providing free products for medical personnel, or
continuing to pay employees, especially those on the front lines.
Ever wonder why, upon opening your Facebook or any social media sites suddenly turns into a
persuading and mouth-watering “Big Menu” of selling food, drinks or any other items, gadgets,
clothing, and merchandise. It took a pandemic, but Facebook Marketplace is of increased interest
to brands and retailers. Many people are jobless, and it is becoming more interesting to vendors
looking for any way to grow and diversify revenue. People can use Facebook Marketplace to sell
items in their community and even stronger advertising for online companies such as Shopee and
Lazada. Customers have grown weary of marketing messages that are blasted at them in an effort
to sell. Companies must continually seek out ways to engage with customers and provide multiple
avenues to sell. Filipinos will certainly adapt to whatever situation is to come, hopefully in
innovative and inspiring ways.
Entrepreneurship has generated considerable excitement and interest for various reasons. It
promotes job generation and distribution of wealth, as a solution to poverty. It creates an opening
for innovation in products, services, and processes.

MODULE 1-CHAPTER 1-LESSON 1 UNDERSTANDING ENTREPRENEURSHIP (WEEK 1)
INTRODUCTION
While the ongoing pandemic has limited people's mobilization, it also impacted
some businesses and their operations. Even with the flexible working arrangements,
not all businesses can embrace this change because of the nature of the companies,
and perhaps, the lack of resources as well. Both businesspersons and employees face
the harsh truths of the pandemic in terms of financial stability and source of income.
So, it is time to innovate and venture new options available that are also appealing
during this time.
You have a business, and everything seems perfect until you realize that something
is missing with your plan: how to deliver your items to your customers?
Here are some of the most widely used delivery applications and logistics in the
country that help entrepreneurs worldwide.
