Marriage and divorce are both common experiences. Healthy marriages are good for
couples’ mental and physical health. They are also good for children growing up in a happy
home protects children from mental, physical, educational and social problems. But speaking of
divorce, it may influence well-being, with many individuals experiencing depression, loneliness
and isolation, self-esteem difficulties, or other psychological distress. Legalization of divorce in
the Philippines is still prohibited but there are some moves that underway to legalize it.
Presently, the Philippines and the Vatican are the solitary two sovereign states on the
planet that actually restrict separation. Adversaries of this drive contend that, in case separation
is permitted, it will destroy the establishment of marriage. The bill views separate as a women’s
privileges issue. At some point, the main reason why legalization of divorce in the Philippines is
no been approved so far, it is because of the arguing of different opinions and the battle of
different stands and principles of the people.
For some people , they consider the legalization of divorce because at some point they
realize that they are lack of commitment, too much arguing, infidelity, marrying too young,
unrealistic expectations, lack of equality in the relationship, lack of preparation for marriage, and
abuse. Most of the common reasons people give for their divorce because they fall under the
umbrella of no longer being in love. People also lean on their own understanding, they take the
advantage of filing divorce because they can get the chance of being relaxed, they get their
freedom, they have the chance to love their selves again and they can reunite with their friends
again. They stand for the reason that not all relationship can be fixed, Divorce becomes a
necessary step in the process of healing and moving forward to a better future. Eliminating that
possibility closes the door on those who are vulnerable to the negative effects of a toxic
relationship and prevents them from creating a better future for themselves and their children.
In religious mindset, divorce is strictly prohibited in a married couple. Because
according to Luke 16:18 “Everyone who divorces his wife and marries another commits
adultery, and he who marries a woman divorced from her husband commits adultery”. Many
people wonder what the Bible says about divorce. Generally, in Christianity, marriage is viewed
as a life-long promise between partners. Divorce is mentioned in the Bible, the main source of
authority and guidance for Christians. Jesus’s teaching on divorce is that it would lead to
adultery, which is forbidden in the Ten Commandments. The Christian teachings on divorce
differ between denominations. Generally divorce is frowned upon, as marriage is considered a
sacrament and the couple have made promises in front of God to stay together for life. The
scripture added some point in Mark 10:9 “Therefore what God has joined together, let no one
separate”. Roman Catholic also added that they didn’t recognize divorce as the solution. A
marriage can only end when one partner dies or if there are grounds for an annulment. A couple
may be granted a civil divorce and be divorced in the eyes of the state, but their marriage will
continue ‘in the eyes of God.
Sometimes people get into big or small fights. But we should remember as always how
to nurture and respect one another, we should remember what is our promise in front of God
during marriage. That wether in sickness or in health, Better or worse , poorer or richer the
couple must stay forever. We should consider everything like children. Children who grow up in
an intact, two-parent family with both biological parents present do better on a wide range of
outcomes than children who grow up in a single-parent family. Wether it will legalize or not , the
important thing in this world is to follow what is right just like what Jesus want. True Peace and
genuine love can only find in the presence of our lord Jesus Christ, so we shouldn’t lean in our
own understanding instead we should depend and have strong faith in him.
