Compare and contrast. Identify two modes of doing the same thing where one involves a more
technologically advanced method. Example would be a snail mail vs. email. List down as many
examples. Brainstorm with a partner if a less technologically sophisticated mechanism can
actually turn out to be better in terms of reaching for the good life. Is the more technologically
advanced always better?
Kodak Camera VS. A Smartphone
Typewriters VS. Laptops
Telephones VS. A Smartphone
CD’s/Floppy disks VS. Flash drives
ATMs VS. Digital wallets
Walkmans VS. Ipads
I believe the portion that is debated is constantly, but it has secured a faster, easier, and better
approach to developing and enriching humanity's daily lives. Technical advancement and the
influence of how we use technology, as far as I can tell, are both interdependent elements that we
may identify with cause and effect. Of course, there are advantages, such as those listed above,
but we must also recognize that there are disadvantages.
Assessment
1. What is the good life?
A happy life, according to Aristotle, is one in which a person cultivates and uses
his or her reasoning skills through pursuits such as scientific study, philosophical
discussion, creative output, or legislation.
2. What is the relationship between the good life and science?
Many argues that science is the driving force behind a happy existence. Though
good life and science are intricately linked, they have an influence on one another,
similar to the concept of cause and effect. Science and its findings have a huge
impact on human life, particularly good life. And it is the decision to live a decent
life that propels the world's technological progress. Both of these are most likely
used as cause and effect in a systematic context.
3. Does technology always lead us to the good life? How and why?
It could be able to help us do a task more swiftly and easily. Smartphones,
computers, and other electronic devices are all products of contemporary
technology. Science, research, and technology by themselves do not guarantee a
happy life. It is inextricably linked to one another. Technology is only a tool for
achieving a goal. And every instrument has the potential to be misused or
exploited. If you're on the losing end of a conflict, technology isn't always the
answer to a "happy life." Alternatively, communications technology might be
used to spread misleading information, causing people to make poor decisions
based on faulty information.
