Course Description:
This course is primarily geared towards appreciation of the national hero’s life and works. It endeavors to view Rizal in a different angle – not as a glorious individual but
as a normal human being. It will also tackle the state of the Philippine society Rizal saw during his lifetime and how that context molded Rizal to be the individual that we know
today. The literary works written by Rizal will also be analyzed in order to assess its relevance in the current period. This course will also discuss controversial issues that revolve
around Rizal’s identity, heroism, and legacy. Lastly, it aims to connect the lessons of the past to the current social and political issues.
General Objectives:
Through the implementation of R.A. 1425 in the academe, this class aims to:
inculcate patriotism and nationalism;
foster love of humanity and respect of human rights;
appreciate the role of national heroes in the historical development of the country;
teach the rights and duties of citizenship;
strengthen ethical and spiritual values; and
encourage critical and creative thinking.

● Grading periods:
○ Periodic Grade 1 (PG1) – Weeks 1-2
○ Periodic Grade 2 (PG2) – Weeks 2-4
● PG1 = (Daily Quizzes *60%) + (Long Quiz *40%)
● PG2 = (Daily Quizzes *60%) + (RBE *40%)
● Final Grade = (P1*50%) + (P2*50%)
● Passing percentage: 50%
