Note 1: The validity of Aircraft Training Phase I is 3 months within which Aircraft Training Phase II
must be completed. If more than 3 months have elapsed, then Phase I training must be
repeated prior to commencing/resuming Phase II training.

Note 2: The Instructor supervising the Base Training occupies the observer seat while the under
trainee instructor, having been trained in Phase I satisfactorily occupies the LHS/RHS seat
as PIC. It is acceptable for the instructor to occupy LHS/RHS as PIC and act as under
training while supervising the trainee instructor rather than occupying the observer seat.

LINE TRAINING

DGCA CAR REQUIREMENT: For TRIs, at least one SLF sector should be conducted by the
trainee Instructor pilot under supervision of an Instructor. Instructor may occupy left hand seat
or right hand seat and act as a Pilot-under-training also.

Objective: This is to introduce the trainee Instructor to LOFT duties. Instructors should be
trained in the philosophy, skills, and conduct of Line Operational and CRM. They should be
able to effectively observe and critique both individual and crew performance during the flight.
To do this, trainee should meet the minimum requirements discussed in the following
paragraphs:

1. Line Familiar – Familiar with the operations for which they are providing training. This
will ensure that instructors accurately perceive and evaluate situations as they arise.

 Flight control laws
 AP/FD interaction
 ECAM
b) Review IOE pilot training report
c) S.O.P.
 Normal operations
 Task sharing
 Standard call outs
 Checklist

2. CRM Skills – Instructors should be able to observe & critique these areas in Line Operational.

3. Briefing, Debriefing, and Critique. Instructors should be trained to conduct the briefing and
debriefing/critique phases of Line Operational, including how to provide feedback in a
nonthreatening and sensitive manner.
4. Report writing: Importance of report writing and key observations.
