    Dear Mr. Smith:

    We deeply regret to learn that the shipment did not contain the various goods you
    ordered. Our shipping department has looked into the matter and apparently an error
    was made in the packing instructions.

    Arrangements have been made to dispatch a corrected shipment according to the list
    of items you sent us, and we have enclosed the relative shipping documents.

    Our telex earlier confirmed our apology and immediate replacement of the order. A
    copy is enclosed for your reference. We sincerely hope the mater has not caused you
    any serious inconvenience, and kindly request that you arrange to have the misplaced
    shipment of goods returned at our expense
