Karma is the belief that you reap in this lifetime what you’ve sowed
in previous lifetimes. Through the use of the Karmic Magic Square,
you’ll explore your personality to find those hidden facets and blind
spots everyone has. When you do this, you can improve your life in
the present moment and move beyond limitations.
□□ How to build your personal Karma Decoder using just your birth
date and the magic Lo Shu Square.
□□ What each line and number in your magic Lo Shu Square reveals
about your personality traits.
□□ Tips and affirmations that will help you pay your debts and
improve this lifetime and any future lifetimes.
The Karma Decoder can tell you a lot about your personality and is
a great tool to have in your metaphysical arsenal. Plus, it’s easy and
fun! It’s finally time to begin your karmic journey. Enjoy!
Many blessings,
It’s not! When the Lo Shu Magic Square, originally found on the back of a tortoise, is combined
with ancient Numerology, it can give character analyses and predictions about the future. It’s also
known as the Karmic Square, but more about that later.
You’re probably wondering, “What is Lo Shu? And what does it have to do with a tortoise?” Read on...
Magic Squares can be traced back in Chinese literature as far as 2800 B.C. The legend of “Lo Shu”
or “scroll of the river Lo” tells the story of a huge flood that destroyed crops and land. The people
offered a sacrifice to calm the anger of the river god for one of the flooded rivers – the Lo.
Every time the river flooded, a tortoise would emerge that would walk around the sacrifice.
According to the legend, it was a child who noticed a unique pattern on the tortoise’s shell – they
saw circular dots of numbers arranged in a 3-by-3 grid pattern, with the numbers in each column,
row, and diagonal line equaling the same sum: 15.
Fifteen became the number of sacrifices needed in order to make the river god happy - to keep
everything balanced. It is also the number of days in each of the 24 cycles of the Chinese solar year,
and the number of days between the new moon and the full moon.
The lesson here is all about balance within yourself and your karmic debts. Using Chinese
Numerology, you can translate each number that shows up in your grid into your strengths and
weaknesses, character traits and more.
But, the Magic Square doesn’t just use numbers, it also uses diagonal, horizontal and vertical lines –
each describing different personality traits.
In this guide, you will discover what each number in your birth date reveals and how to remedy any
negative traits or karmic debts you are holding in this lifetime.
Excited? Then let’s get started! This will all start to make more sense as you dive into creating your
square.
In building your magic square, you will use only one digit numbers, zero through nine, which each
represent an energy that is either “good” or “bad”. Zeros will go below the grid, which will be
explained shortly.
To begin your reading, follow these simple steps, and you’ll be well on your way to discovering the
magic within the square!
Figure 1
STEP 2:
On the same piece of paper, write out your date of birth using two digits for the day, two digits for
the month and four digits for the year.
Figure 2, below, shows the exact location in the 9 square grid where each number in the date of
birth is written. All 1’s are written where 1 is in the charts, all 2’s where the two is, etc. Remember,
all zeros go underneath the grid.
3 6 9
2 5 8
1 4 7
Write each number in your date of birth in the correct position in the grid – See Figure 3 for an
example.
EX A M P LE:
Someone with a date of birth of October 27, 1953 (10-26-1953) has the following
grid shown in Figure 3.
All like numbers go into the same square, as you can see. Since there is a zero in
the birth month, that zero goes below. You’ll learn more about the zeros later in this
guide. They represent your karmic debts.

Now, draw a straight line through any column, row or diagonal that has at least one number in each
square, like tic-tac-toe. Ignore the zeros when drawing the lines. See the example below.

STEP 4:
Congratulations! You’ve created your personal Karmic Magic Lo Shu Square and you are ready to
do a karmic reading.
You will start by reading the lines in your square, then discover the individual number meanings.
After, you can discover what your karmic debts are and how to repay them in this lifetime! Continue
reading for more guidance.
At this point, you’ve created your personal Lo Shu Square by adding your numbers into the grid,
then drawing any necessary lines. As mentioned before, your chart is interpreted using both lines
and numbers.
Lines don’t appear in every chart. When they do appear, they can provide accurate insight into your
personality. Some lines show positive characteristics, others show negative ones.
□□ Having only 2 numbers in a row, column or diagonals indicates an above average ability in that
characteristic.
□□ Having no numbers in a row makes the line “negative,” showing below average abilities in that
area. But don’t worry – you’ll soon discover how to take care of that!
Now back to interpreting the lines, or lack thereof, that appear in your chart…
It’s important to remember that having the characteristics and the abilities you’re about to uncover
is not as important as what we do with them. There are many people with excellent Numerology
charts who have achieved very little in their lives, while there are those who have only average or
below average abilities who are happy and successful. It’s all up to you!

If you lack numbers in this position, it means your feelings are easily hurt. Since you’re ultra-
sensitive to any critical comment, this sensitivity can make you shy. It is important that you work to
overcome this.
On the positive side, it also means you’re loyal and make an excellent teacher.
R E M E DY: Work on becoming less sensitive – do not take things so personally. Take time out of
your days to acknowledge your strengths and build you confidence!

If you have numbers in all boxes of the far right vertical column with the numbers 7, 8, and 9, this
is the Line of Activity.
As the name suggests, you have high energy levels and express yourself by being constantly active.
If the Line of Determination (which runs diagonally through numbers 1, 5, 9) also appears, you verge
on being hyperactive, because, as the Line of Determination indicates, you won’t take “no” for an
answer and will continue working on a project or problem until it is finished or solved. The Line of
Activity means you’re great at starting projects but are easily bored and move on, leaving others to
finish what you’ve started.
Now that you’ve looked at the lines in your magic square, it’s time to bring in Numerology and learn
to interpret your unique numbers.
As you may have noticed, there might be multiple appearances of an individual number within
your square, which changes the meaning of the number. So, as you go through the meanings of the
individual numbers, it is important to take note that:
□□ Often, but not always, when there are two of the same number it will tend to somewhat reverse
the meaning of only one of that number.
□□ If there are three occurrences of a number, it usually, but not always, amplifies the original
meaning of a single number.
□□ Four of a single number is rare, but continues to amplify the original meaning.
LET’S GET STARTED AND FIND OUT JUST WHAT THE NUMBERS TELL ABOUT YOU!
1
The number 1 can tell you a lot about how you communicate with others. It also relates to your
level of confidence. In Numerology, 1 is the number of a leader. Everyone born between the years
1900 and 1999 will have at least one number 1 in their magic square.
ONE 1
If you have one 1, you’re probably a good speaker in a business or another professional setting, but
you have difficulty expressing your feelings due to a lack of personal confidence. This can cause
problems with others if you are drawn to saying what you think they want to hear and not what
you truly think.
REMEDY: Practice more self-love and gain the confidence to express your feelings. Use
affirmations like “I am totally comfortable being myself,” and “Each day I become more confident in
who I am.”
T WO 1 ' S
Two 1’s indicates a balance between being a good speaker and the ability to honestly express your
inner feelings. You have no trouble revealing your inner feelings to others.
REMEDY: None! This is the perfect number of 1’s to have in your Magic Square.
T H R EE 1 ' S
Two types of people have three 1’s in their grid. Those who never stop talking or those who never
say a word. You might be both, depending on the situation. You’re generally happy, content and very
confident.
REMEDY: Practice mindfulness. Be aware of what’s appropriate in any given situation and try not
to talk too much or too little.
2
The number 2 indicates how sensitive, perceptive and intuitive you are. It also has the traits of
cooperation, diplomacy and tact. Everyone born in the 21st century will have at least one 2 in
their grid.
ONE 2
You’re sensitive, perceptive and intuitive, but easily hurt. You have a laser eye for insincerity and
dishonesty in other people. This also is the number of the psychic... Ever hear the phone ring and
know exactly who is on the other end?
REMEDY: Build your confidence by noting just how accurate your intuition is! Pay attention to how
often you dream truth, know who’s calling and when your hunches about people pay off.
T WO 2 ' S
You’re intelligent, sensitive, perceptive and intuitive. Your gift is being able to see the true
motivations of other people, and your first impressions of other people are usually correct.
REMEDY: Nothing wrong here! Just believe in your intuition and first impressions of people, no
matter how someone tries to convince you otherwise.
T H R EE 2 ' S
You prefer to be on your own instead of with other people because you’re so intuitive, sensitive
and easily hurt. You live in a world of your own feelings. Others might see you as aloof. People with
three 2’s are often introverts.
REMEDY: There’s nothing wrong with your own company, but it can get lonely. Try spending time
with one person you particularly enjoy and network with others in your own field of work. The
following affirmations might help, “Being more outgoing allows me to have more fun,” and, “Being
outgoing is an improvement in my life.”
3
The number 3 relates to memory, intellect, and the ability to think clearly and logically. It also
relates to creativity.
ONE 3
You have a good brain and creative mind with an excellent memory. You are generally optimistic and
tend to be lucky!
REMEDY: To keep your brain stimulated, continue to learn throughout your life. Take classes
online or in person and take the time to learn a new skill or craft.
T WO 3 ' S
You have a great imagination and are creative, as well as a bit eccentric. You can be really good at
putting your thoughts into action to manifest, but you tend to be a bit dreamy and can waste your gifts.
REMEDY: Stay grounded! Meditation and yoga are good for you.
T H R EE O R M ORE 3'S
You’re a great creative thinker and innovator, but it’s important you don’t get carried away. You have
a tendency to be self-absorbed with your own thoughts and dreams, which can create problems if
you’re trying to develop relationships.
REMEDY: Practice mindfulness. A great affirmation for you would be, “I know that all time is
precious and therefore spend each moment living my dreams.
4
This is a practical, hard-working number. People with this number are generally neat, tidy and
good with details, and often enjoy working with their hands.
ONE 4
You’re practical, hard-working and a hands-on type of person. You like facts rather than imaginative
musings and unproven theories. You’re great at organizing others for any purpose, and you follow
through with plans. You can be seen as materialistic, although you are not.
REMEDY: You’ve got some great traits and want to be seen as you are. So, if you aren’t
materialistic, why appear that way? Try spending some time in the world of ideas. Take your
practical, hard-working nature and add some creativity to your thinking and problem solving. “I am
ever-receptive to the inspiration the Universe sends me.”
T WO 4 ' S
You’re an incredible organizer, and like to complete what you start. You’re conscientious, accurate
and tidy and enjoy making things with your hands. But, sometimes you miss the practical side of
things and throw caution to the winds.
REMEDY: Seek balance. What is appropriate for the moment? Should you go out for that drink with
coworkers or finish that assignment? “I balance my work with my leisure time perfectly,” is a good
affirmation, as is, “I know what my priorities are, and ensure that I give these my daily attention.”
T H R EE O R M ORE 4'S
You are what people call a “workhorse.” You are hard-working, and as a boss or employer, you
can become a “slave driver.” It’s very easy for you to slip into being a workaholic, someone who
compulsively works long hours, whether you need to or not.
REMEDY: It’s important to maintain balance in your life. Work is not everything, nor should it be.
What do you value outside of work? And what do you do to pause and refresh? Take some time for
yourself and do something you enjoy. Some good affirmations to balance these numbers in your
chart are, “I find the time to honor all areas of my life,” and “With every breath I take, I am bringing
greater and greater balance into my life.”
5
This number relates to emotional stability and balance, as well as a love of freedom and variety.
ONE 5
You’re emotionally well balanced, compassionate, understanding and caring! You motivate and
inspire others to achieve.
Remedy: No remedy needed here, but be sure to take time for yourself and your own needs. A
good affirmation to remind yourself to do this is, “I make sure that I get quality ‘me’ time every day.”
T WO 5 ' S
You’re intense, driven and determined. But you’re enthusiastic and restless, as well, which means
you have some trouble controlling your emotions and are prone to emotional outbursts. This can
create problems in relationships.
REMEDY: Become more self-aware and think before you speak and act. Make sure to practice
self-control. A good affirmation is, “I have total control over my actions and behaviors.” And, “I am
gaining emotional balance more and more each day.”
T H R EE O R M ORE 5'S
You have a great deal of drive and energy and you’re always willing to take a risk. You love freedom
and adventure. But, you’re prone to speaking without thinking, which means you can hurt people
without meaning to.
REMEDY: The obvious is, “think before you speak.” You want to make sure to get your point
across without making others feel bad, while also practicing compassion. A good mantra is, “I am a
deliberate listener, pausing to reflect before responding.” And “As I focus on compassion, I relate to
others with love and understanding.”
6
This number relates to the subjects of home, family and responsibility.
ONE 6
You have a great love of home and family and enjoy your domestic responsibilities. You make a good
parent! While you’re responsible, you’re also creative.
REMEDY: Nothing to remedy here! Just remember to take care of yourself as well as your family
and home.
T WO 6 ' S
You want stability of home and family, but this might come across as overprotective. You may get so
involved in caring for others that you neglect your own wellbeing. You’re very creative.
REMEDY: Use your creativity to carve out space to take care of yourself. “I ensure that I make
quality time just for me,” is a good affirmation, as is, “I matter. My wants and needs are just as
important as anyone else’s. I am allowed to say “no” to others and “yes” to myself.”
T H R EE O R M ORE 6'S
You can easily become overly concerned about children and loved ones, becoming possessive and
overprotective. You stress and worry over little things and tend to look at the negative side of life.
REMEDY: Some type of relaxation technique would be good for you, whether it’s meditation,
yoga or some good, hard exercise. Train yourself to think positively by daily affirmations like, “Every
day, I modify my thinking, so I only practice positive thoughts.” And, “I am in tune with the good in
everything and this good constantly moves towards me.”
7
This number represents lessons learned through disappointment or loss.
ONE 7
You do your best learning through the loss of love, possessions or health – the “school of hard
knocks.” You need to make your own mistakes. This leads you to become more and more interested
in spiritual and metaphysical subjects.
REMEDY: Things don’t have to be as hard as you make them. Use your interest in spiritual matters
to change your approach to yourself, life and others. Remember and speak out loud, “Deep at the
center of my being lies the infinite wisdom of the Universe.” Tap into this wisdom and meditate on it
using this affirmation, “Divine guidance is mine for the asking.” Ask what work needs to be done to
make your life easier and more positive, and then do it!
T WO 7 ' S
You’re likely to learn from the mistakes of others by using your strong observational skills. You have
a knack for figuring out how to incorporate the positive behaviors of others into your own life while
avoiding the pain.
REMEDY: There’s really nothing here to remedy, but you might want to use your observational
gifts to help others who are struggling. “As my concern for others deepens, my life is more fulfilled
in every way.”
T H R EE O R M ORE 7'S
You’re someone who has experienced great personal loss or hard times in the past. As a result,
you’ve built up a lot of inner strength and wisdom and you have a very realistic outlook on life.
REMEDY: You’ve overcome so much! Take some time out to acknowledge your accomplishments.
A good affirmation for you is, “I recognize and honor my true talents, abilities, and skills.”
8
This number relates to attention to detail and how restless someone is.
ONE 8
You’re extremely detail-oriented and a great problem solver. You’re probably also very organized and
like your life to be as well. But, you also have an active, restless mind that needs constant mental
challenges.
REMEDY: Nothing much to remedy here! Just take care not to become too rigid in organizing your
life. Use affirmations like, “Doing unplanned things is liberating,” and “It’s okay to just let things go
from time to time.” to amp up the positive aspects of this number in your life.
T WO 8 ' S
You aren’t a fan of structure and organization and can become easily bored if there aren’t enough
challenges in your life. You have to be stimulated mentally and emotionally. You sometimes practice
self-sabotage by messing things up deliberately just to experience change.
REMEDY: Remind yourself that you are a positive and constructive person. Meditate and make
internal changes so you don’t rely so much on external change. Work on inner serenity using
affirmations such as, “Every day and in every way I see in the world what I have within; as I am
aware of my ocean deep inner peace, I always remain peaceful with circumstances.”
T H R EE O R M ORE 8'S
You like variety and change, but sooner or later you’re going to want to settle down and become a
“creature of habit.” You tend to take this behavior so far that you become stuck in a rut.
REMEDY: Get out and live a little! Do something without a goal in mind such as taking a
meandering walk through your neighborhood. A constructive affirmation for you is, “I crave new,
healthy experiences.”
9
Everyone born in the 20th Century has at least one 9 in their grid. It represents how someone
cares for the welfare of others, as well as idealism and valor. It also represents how well someone
finishes what they start.
ONE 9
You have a strong desire to improve both yourself and the world. This is the number of the
humanitarian and represents our highest ideal.
REMEDY: Who needs a remedy for humanitarianism? Just be sure to also take care of yourself.
Use daily affirmations such as this, “The more I care for and love myself, the more love I experience
from others.”
T WO 9 ' S
You’re idealistic and very intelligent. You learn quickly. But, you tend to look down on others who
aren’t as intelligent as you are, which makes you appear aloof.
REMEDY: If you look down on others, you’re exposing your own lack of confidence. Affirmations
like, “I have a healthy level of self-esteem,” and, “I am a very important and integral piece of the
infinite whole.” will benefit you. If, on the other hand, you feel you have healthy self-esteem, work
on becoming humbler and treating people with loving kindness.
T H R EE O R M ORE 9'S
You have a highly developed intelligence that will serve you well in life. However, this may cause
you to become socially isolated without realizing it.
REMEDY: Make a conscious effort to stay involved with others and not become locked in your
own mind. Stating, “I am increasingly interested in the life of every individual I meet,” and, “I create
wonderful lasting relationships with people,” as affirmations, might help.
0
Those 0’s you placed under your grid? They represent your Karmic debts, and the more 0’s you
have, the more you owe. Keep reading to learn how clues about these debts show up in your daily
life.
In the previous sections, you learned to build your magic square, how to identify and interpret the
meanings of your lines and numbers, and how to remedy any negative traits that appear in your
numbers.
In this section, you’ll learn about your karmic lessons, debts, and how to take care of them.
Karmic debts are represented by the number 0, which you placed at the bottom of the grid. These
are debts you’ve accumulated from your previous lives. The more 0’s you have, the more karmic
debts you’ve acquired, and these need to be repaid in this lifetime.
Each missing number indicates the imbalances in your life and signify the lessons you’ll need to
learn to improve this lifetime and your lifetimes to come. But don’t worry, we’ll give you some
suggestions on how to achieve balance for a better life now, and to keep these karmic debts from
following you into your next incarnation!
M I S S I N G N U MB ER 1
If you’re missing the number 1, you have difficulty communicating with and relating to others.
You must learn to communicate with others, to really connect with other people, understand other
people’s feelings and points of view, and develop a sense of compassion. Ensure you actively listen
to other people. In short – talk less and listen more.
It is important for you to practice active listening. This means concentrating on understanding,
responding and remembering what’s being said by others. A meditation practice that centers on
mindfulness will help to keep you present in each moment. Be compassionate with yourself and
extend that to others.
YOUR AFFIRMATION:
“With every breath I take, I am bringing greater and greater compassion into my life.”
M I S S I N G N U MB ER 2
Sensitivity and intuition are lacking if you’re missing the number 2. This means you may make
mistakes by ignoring or, mistrusting that small, quiet voice within. It also indicates that perhaps you
try to justify your mistakes, or blame others for them, rather than admit to them.
Your lesson is to be more sensitive, trust your intuition, be more patient, and to admit and accept
responsibility for your own mistakes.
Meditation can be really helpful in this case. Sit quietly with yourself and listen to that inner voice.
The more you listen, the louder it will become and the more your intuition will develop. Realize
you’re responsible for your own life and that everyone makes mistakes. This is often how we learn
life’s lessons. Personal responsibility is an important part of self-development and is a key step in
manifesting your desires.
M I S S I N G N U MB ER 3
If you’re missing the number 3, you probably underestimate yourself to the point that you lack
confidence and have a tendency to put yourself down. You also have trouble thinking logically when
under stress or distracted, which again, shows a lack of confidence in yourself.
The lesson here is that you must accept your faults and love yourself. Along with this, you must
learn to mentally focus. Affirmations should help build your “muscle focus”. As you focus on the
affirmation, take deep breaths. Breathe it in, focus and believe it.
YOUR AFFIRMATION:
“Every deep breath I take fills me with more and more self-confidence.” “I love and accept all of me –
today I start loving myself more.”
M I S S I N G N U MB ER 4
Is hard work something you try to avoid at all costs? Then you’re missing a 4 in your chart. You
probably also find it difficult to work to a set routine, and you might be disorganized or lack
motivation. Your lesson is about how you can enjoy your work and see it as something positive that
can help manifest your dreams.
If you are missing a 4 you need to get organized to get motivated. It can help to write things down
and make lists. Reflect on the positive aspects that structure brings into your life. Is it the way you
make money for the things you enjoy doing? Get clear on what you want to bring into your life.
YOUR AFFIRMATION:
“When my intentions are clear, the Universe cooperates with me and I can accomplish anything.” “I am a
go-getter and I will continue until I reach my goals.”
M I S S I N G N U MB ER 5
Do you make things happen or does life just “happen” to you? If it’s the latter, your lesson is to
develop drive and direction. You must learn to set realistic goals and complete them without
needing constant motivation from others. Your goals and direction must come from within.
YOUR AFFIRMATION:
“As I grow more connected to my soul, my life’s purpose becomes clearer and clearer.” Every action I take
moves me toward my greater purpose.”
M I S S I N G N U MB ER 6
If you’re missing the number 6, your lesson is to be more open with your feelings and more giving of
yourself. You probably tend to hide your feelings, and have trouble relating to people.
As difficult as it can be to let your emotions out, in the end it will make you so much happier. How
can people know how to treat you if you don’t tell them? And how can you get what you want in life
if you are scared to express your true emotions and just go for it?
YOUR AFFIRMATION:
“Every emotion I experience brings me greater self-awareness.” “Giving from the heart grounds me in
love. Sharing my happiness is how I keep it.”

You can be inconsiderate of other people’s feelings and misfortunes if you’re missing the number 7.
You may also have no interest in spiritual matters. Your lesson is to learn to be more considerate of
other people’s feelings and gain compassion.
With a lack of interest in spiritual matters, it’s unlikely you would be interested in any form of
meditation or metaphysical advice. Affirmations can help balance this karmic debt and don’t involve
any particular belief system – you’re basically just giving yourself a pep talk.
YOUR AFFIRMATION:
“As my concern for others deepens, my life becomes more fulfilling in every way.” “Every kind word I
express comes back to me multiplied.”

If you’re missing an 8, your lessons to learn are financial. You might be too trusting and suffer losses
or spend money like crazy. You must learn to tap into and trust your intuition, and think before
acting on financial matters.
YOUR AFFIRMATION:
“I take full responsibility for my financial future.” “I feel totally connected to my inner being and spirit.”
“Connection with my inner spirit brings me constant peace and joy.”

Your lesson is to learn to give more of yourself and become a true humanitarian. If you’re missing a
9, you are aloof and detached from other people.
Look inside and gain understanding of yourself. What do you want to attract to your life? What we
put out is what we get back. Be mindful and exercise compassion toward yourself and others.
YOUR AFFIRMATION:
“By fully understanding myself, I have a greater understanding of humanity.” “As I focus on compassion,
I naturally relate to others with love and understanding.” “Every penny I give to others returns happiness
and contentment twofold.”
