– ELT-DT (Transponder activates ELT-DT when
distress indicated)
• Timely Recovery
– Airbus-L3 partnered on deployable timely recovery
solution
– ACSS and L3 investigating use of transponder
(1090PMT) and/or recorder (using Satcom) to
stream
Notes: 1 The RF detector, located in the ELT-DT, monitors the transponder ADS-B 1090Mhz
transmissions and arms the ELT-DT when distress bit is set or all RF transmissions cease
2 The Distress Trigger logic, which monitors aircraft performance to determine distress event,

can be hosted inside the Transponder. No impact to aircraft wiring or LRU count when Trigger
Logic is hosted in the Transponder.
3 For configuration where the trigger logic is hosted externally, the external system will be wired

to the Transponder and used to detect any distress events

GPS Anti Spoof – Anti Jam

• GPS Jamming: Illegal use of radio frequency transmitters to intentionally block, jam, or
interfere with lawful GPS communications.
• GPS Spoofing: Deceiving a GPS receiver by broadcasting incorrect GPS signals,
structured to resemble a set of normal GPS signals, or by rebroadcasting genuine signals
captured elsewhere or at a different time. These spoofed signals may be modified in such
a way as to cause the receiver to estimate its position to be somewhere other than where
it actually is, or to be located where it is but at a different time, as determined by the
attacker.
• GPS jamming and spoofing is an increasing threat with at least one confirmed case of
Russia jamming of air transport aircraft
• With ADS-B relying on GPS signals, ACSS’s TCAS is at risk of displaying incorrect
information due to a jamming or spoofing incident.
• L3 currently has a competitive anti-jam and anti-spoof product for the military market that
successfully corrects a GPS signal
• Solutions that provide annunciation-only of a jammed or spoofed signal exist in
automotive and building infrastructure markets
• Two-prong approach: Develop an annunciation-only product – go-to-market in 2-3 years
• Long-term solution: Develop a commercial signal correction product – go-to-market in 5-
7 years
Is Gulfstream operators expressing concerns with GPS Anti-Jam/Anti-
Spoof?
