Attendance System Based On Fingerprint Using ARDUINO, 6 (6), 689

The document provides citations from 6 sources that describe the use of Arduino microcontrollers in fingerprint-based attendance systems. The citations discuss how Arduino stores and matches fingerprint templates to register user attendance, and how it can interface with sensors, displays, and communication modules to build complete attendance tracking systems. Arduino is highlighted as an accessible and economic platform for prototyping such fingerprint biometric projects.

CITATION:

According to Jamdade, K., Surwase, S., Kundurkar, S., & Mohite, J. (2019), Arduino is a microcontroller

which is used to read the sensor values. Current sensor is connecting to the Arduino. While keeping in
mind the economic parameters and its simplicity, Arduino Uno has been used which reduce the
programming complexity. Arduino monitoring Attendance system.

According to Mahajan, A., Sahu, G., & Anand, A. (2019), It is basically a microcontroller which is based
on both hardware and software. The main purpose of this microcontroller is to store, register and
display the data. In Storing, the microcontroller stores the fingerprint of the user with a particular ID
Number. When the fingerprint of the user is stored then the user will register himself. In Registering, the
fingerprint will be checked with the stored fingerprint and if both the fingerprints match then the ID
Number of that fingerprint is displayed on the Serial Monitor and further the data is displayed on Excel.

According to Kulkarni, P., Patil, Y., Dagade, A., & Kapse, A. (2020), The Arduino Uno is a microcontroller
board based on the ATmega328. It has 14 digital input/output pins (of which 6 can be used as PWM
outputs), 6 analogy inputs, a 16 MHz ceramic resonator, a USB connection, a power jack, an ICSP header,
and a reset button. It contains everything needed to support the microcontroller; simply connect it to a
computer with a USB cable or power it with an AC-to-DC adapter or battery to get started. The Uno
differs from all preceding boards in that it does not use the FTDI USB-toserial driver chip. Instead, it
features the Atmega16U2 programmed as a USB-to-serial converter. The Arduino Uno can be powered
via the USB connection or with an external power supply. The power Electronic copy available at:
https://ssrn.com/abstract=3645323 Finger Print Based Attendance System Using Arduino 3 source is
selected automatically. External power can come either from an AC-to-DC adapter or battery. The
adapter can be connected by plugging a 2.1mmcenter positive plug into the board's power jack. Leads
from a battery can be inserted in the GND and Vin pin headers of the power connector. The board can
operate on an external supply of 6 to 20 volts. If supplied with less than 7V, however, the 5V pin may
supply less than five volts and the board may be unstable. If using more than 12V, the voltage regulator
may overheat and damage the board. The recommended range is 7 to 12 volts. The power pins are as
follows: • VIN. The input voltage to the Arduino board when it's using an external power source. You can
supply voltage through this pin, or, if supplying voltage via the power jack, access it through this pin. •
5V. The regulated power supply used to power the microcontroller and other components on the board.

According to Myint, K. S., & Nyein, C. M. (2018), The main purpose of the microcontroller is to enroll
and search the fingerprint. In enrolling, this controller read the template from the fingerprint sensor and
enroll the ID number. This display the ID number on serial monitor. And then, this controller check the
fingerprint with the stored template in the searching process. If the fingerprint is correct, the display
valued are shown in excel. Otherwise, the controller don’t give any output.
According to Krishnamurthi, K., Mary, I., Sumalatha, B., & Pereira, A. (2015), Arduino is an open-source
computer hardware and software company, project and user community that designs and manufactures
kits for building digital devices and interactive objects that can sense and control the physical world.
Arduino boards may be purchased pre-assembled, or as do-it-yourself kits; at the same time, the
hardware design information is available for those who would like to assemble an Arduino from scratch.

According to Walia, H., & Jain, N. (2016), Arduino UNO is the brain of the whole system. It is based on
ATmega328P 8 bit AVR microcontroller. It is powered up via USB cable. Programming of Arduino UNO is
done using Arduino IDE software. Peripherals such as fingerprint module, switches and LCD are
interfaced with Arduino. Input to Arduino UNO is from switches and output is displayed on LCD.
