A. Relate the following questions to real-life situations and write your answers on the space
below.
1. What public awareness campaigns are needed to resolve the issues and problems in your
community?
Answer:
Example of issue in our community is Covid-19. Even though we have a low issue about
Covid-19 here in our town San Pablo but we must be also careful about it because we don’t
know the flow of time because what of it will come to our town? So we must bear in our minds
that prevention is better than cure. The public awareness that I wanted to conduct is entitled
“Avoid and Prevent the Spread of Covid-19 Together as One” because we all know that
Coronavirus or also known as Covid-19 has developed into one of the most concerning
disease in the world. Also, Covid-19 is very highly dangerous compared to other infectious
diseases because most children and old-aged people are identified to be high risk of
contamination with the novel virus.
I can disseminate my platform through Social Media like Facebook page that is intended to
our town San Pablo. I chose only in social media because most of the people here in our town
as I observed that they are always on phones and active at their social medias account so it is
a great opportunity to scatter the campaign and also to maintain the health protocols.
Not all people are knowledgeable to understand about my campaign so I must help them to
understand on how to prevent this situation and also to help solve some unwary issues about
Covid-19 here in our town San Pablo.

2. If you were given the chance to organize students to participate in a three-year strategic
planning for a service-learning program, how would you lead your team?
Answer:
If I had the opportunity to organize students to participate in three-year strategic planning
for a service-learning program, I would start by holding a meeting so that we could talk and I
could gather their ideas and thoughts about what our plans are, so that we could plan
according to the expected goals we want. Also, we need to know how it will work and what
steps we need to take. We could do everything if we planned ahead of time, including the
rationale, timeline, budget, and list of assignments. With this planning, we could move forward
with the program's implementation and management, ensuring that the plan of action is
properly implemented. The things that we have planned must be completed in order for us to
assess and evaluate the program's success.
B. Write your reflection on the space provided.
1. What real-life experiences have you gained after a particular community engagement?
Answer:
It was way back on my Junior High School days, there was a time when our town San Pablo
recognizes as one of the most cleanliest town in Zamboanga del Sur. Our school had an opportunity
to participate in this community engagement when we the students of Saint Andrew’s Academy will
clean and pick up some trash we see in our Barangay every year. It was a wonderful experience
because it lessens the work of our town janitor and also, I saw the joy and happiness in the eyes of
those lazy people who are so lazy enough on picking up some trash in front of their houses. Even
though it was it was such a small act of engagement but we made people happy and make our
Barangay clean as well. I’ve learned in another perspective of being proud of what our town achieved
even though not all people have the same mindset to clean. I’ve also realized that God is very helpful
because he gave people the courage and hardworking skills of those people who maintain the
cleanliness especially on our town janitors. God will give everything as long as it is for the good and
fill out any shortcomings that we have.

2. In what ways have you experiences significantly developed your cognitive learning?
Answer:
I developed my cognitive learning maybe it was because I relied solely on myself. Never
asked for assistance a quick way out or an explanation from other person about what I needed
to know about anything. I took information from anywhere and everywhere I could, whether it
was from the books, news, forums or in the internet and tried to understand it and translate it
for myself to the skill that I desired. Sometimes it usually resulted in a lot of “unnecessary”
information. It was initially repulsive but I quickly realized that this “unnecessary” information
turned out to be extremely useful at some point.
I’m not sure if this experience is what shaped my cognitive learning, but relying solely on
my own brain inputs and outputs, as well as doing my best I could at the time, were and
continue to be the most important factors.

C. On the space provided, discuss substantially the following topics.

1. A scenario on which students apply what they have learned in the classroom to the SLP.
Answer:
Service-learning is used in many different settings, including schools, universities, and
community and faith-based organizations. It could be a group of students, a classroom, or the
entire school. Students develop a character and become active participants as they collaborate
with others in their school and community on a variety of service projects aimed at improving
education, public safety, and the environment.
For example, in this scenario in which student-volunteers collecting trash or dredging an
urban or rural river, stream, or waterway provide a valuable service to the community.
Students will do the community a lot of good if they analyze their findings to determine possible
sources of pollution and share the results with the residents of the neighborhood who are also
involved in service-learning.
2. What importance for students to know the basis in law of the SLP
Answer:
Service-learning is based on RA 8292, also known as the Higher Education Modernization
Act of 1997. This law reiterates Section 2(1) of Article XIV of the 1987 Constitution by declaring that
the "policy of the state is to establish, maintain, and support a complete, adequate, and integrated
system of education relevant to the needs of the people and the society." This policy can be attained
through the HEIS' trilogy of functions-academics (teaching-learning), research, and extension
(community service) - and their keeping in mind of their legal responsibility to act as effective agents
of change and development. It is important for students to know these bases in law of the SLP for us
students to be able to be aware about SLP and also Service-learning provides an important service to
the community Students develop an understanding of actual social, political, economic, and
environmental issues in their assigned communities. They may also reflect on their future personal
and career interests whether these be in the field of natural sciences, behavioral sciences, public
administration, values clarification/formation, environmental studies, public policy, or other related
areas. Through service-learning, both the students and the community undergo a transformative
experience.
