Assignment
2021/2022
1
OBJECTIVE
The objective of the assignment is not simply to create a working circuit; but to learn about
circuits. So, as you progress through the assignment, try to understand the role of each
component, and how the choice of component value influences the operation of the circuit.
Several questions can be asked:
It is only when you can answer such questions that you will truly understand the assignment
and progress towards designing your own circuits.
PROCEDURES
In order to successfully complete the assignment, students must follow the procedures listed
below:
2
c. TRIGGER 3 Many electronic appliances and equipment such as computers,
televisions and advertising boards requires dc voltages to operate the electronic
components and parts in them. Starting with an ac voltage supplied to the homes
or offices, a steady dc voltage can be easily obtained by rectifying the ac voltage,
filtering to a dc level and regulating the dc output to obtain a desired fixed dc
voltage to power these appliances or equipment. Nowadays, integrated circuits
have been widely used to obtain regulation. As an electronic engineer, you have
been asked to design a 3 multi voltage power supply circuits based on the
engineering principles you have acquired. Your design must provide 2 dual fixed
dc output, a positive and negative dc output voltage with 9V and 12V at
current 1A, using LM7809, LM7909, LM 7812 and LM7912.
4
different functions, conditions and operating characteristics. As an
electronic engineer in a R & D department, you have been asked to design
an Wien Bridge oscillator with the following design specifications: DC
supply voltage, VCC = 20V, the peak output voltage and Vo(peak) = 0.75V.
l. TRIGGER 12 Filter circuits have played very important roles in the desired
output of electronics systems. Low pass, high pass, band-pass and band-
stop filters have their specified functions. Like most electronic designs
development, filter circuits have seen the leap from passive filters using
passive components to active filters using ICs. As an electronic engineer in a
R & D department, you have been asked to design simple band-pass filter
by cascading one pole high pass filter and one pole low pass filter.
Using operational amplifier, your band-pass filter must have a mid-band
gain of 10 dB with cutoff frequencies of 200 Hz and 50 kHz. You are required
to test and provide the necessary simulated and real response, analysis and
performance of your design.
m. TRIGGER 13 Filter circuits have played very important roles in the desired
output of electronics systems. Low pass, high pass, band-pass and band-
stop filters have their specified functions. Like most electronic designs
development, filter circuits have seen the leap from passive filters using
passive components to active filters using ICs. As an electronic engineer in a
R & D department, you have been asked to design four pole active low
pass Butterworth filter for an audio amplifier application. You are
required to test and provide the necessary simulated and real response,
analysis and performance of your design.
n. TRIGGER 14 Filter circuits have played very important roles in the desired
output of electronics systems. Low pass, high pass, band-pass and band-
stop filters have their specified functions. Like most electronic designs
development, filter circuits have seen the leap from passive filters using

passive components to active filters using ICs. As an electronic engineer in a
R & D department, you have been asked to design two pole active high
pass Butterworth filter for an audio amplifier application. You are
required to test and provide the necessary simulated and real response,
analysis and performance of your design.
o. TRIGGER 15 Filter circuits have played very important roles in the desired
output of electronics systems. Low pass, high pass, band-pass and band-
stop filters have their specified functions. Like most electronic designs
development, filter circuits have seen the leap from passive filters using
passive components to active filters using ICs. As an electronic engineer in a
R & D department, you have been asked to design four pole active high
pass Butterworth filter for an audio amplifier application. You are
required to test and provide the necessary simulated and real response,
analysis and performance of your design.
Note that only maximum of TWO groups can do the same topic.

REPORT SUBMISSION
The final report should be completed by Week 14. It is highly encouraged for any group to
submit their report before the submission week. Penalty will be given in the form of marks
deduction for any late submission.
