    Course Description

    This course takes up the basic tools and test


    equipment used in digital design and digital
    operations. It focuses on analyzing the usage of basic
    components in digital systems, when and where they
    will be used. Furthermore, this course determines
    one’s skills in designing digital circuits.
    Pre-Requisite:

    ICPE01 - Fundamentals of Electricity and


    Electronics

    ● Clock (PCB)
    ● Flipflop (IC)

    ● Counters (IC)
    Grading

    Prelim/Midterm : 50%:

    Semifinal/Final term : 50%

    Projects: : 50%

    Introduction

    A diode is a semiconductor device that


    essentially acts as a one-way switch for
    current.

    It allows current to flow easily in one


    direction, but severely restricts current
    from flowing in the opposite direction.

    When a diode allows current flow, it is


    forward-biased. When a diode is
    reverse-biased, it acts as an insulator and
    does not permit current to flow.
    Transistor

    A transistor is a miniature semiconductor that regulates or controls current or


    voltage flow in addition amplifying and generating these electrical signals and
    acting as a switch/gate for them.
    Breadboard

    A breadboard is a solderless device for temporary prototype with electronics and test circuit
    designs.

    Most electronic components in electronic circuits can be interconnected by inserting their leads
    or terminals into the holes and then making connections through wires where appropriate.
    Connecting wires

    A connecting wire allows travels the


    electric current from one point to another
    point without resistivity.

    Resistance of connecting wire should


    always be near zero.
    Power Supply

    An AC-DC power supply, often known as an adapter, is a device that takes electricity from a grid
    and converts it to a different current, frequency, and voltage.

    AC-DC power supplies are required to give the correct amount of power to an electrical
    component.
    Integrated Circuit

    A miniaturized electronic circuit consisting of a small amount of semiconductor


    material on which several interconnected components are fabricated.
