Flow from the brake pilot pump enters the pilot manifold on the lower side. The pilot flow control
valve directs 15 L/min (4 US gpm) of flow to the pilot system.
The new pilot manifold has one housing instead of two. The pilot filter is now under the cab.

The pilot control system for the M300 Excavators is very similar to the former machines. Flow for
the pilot system comes from the brake pilot pump (arrow). A pilot flow control valve that is located
in the pilot manifold directs the flow to the pilot system before the attachment circuit receives any
flow. The pilot circuit has a separate filter and a separate relief valve in order to regulate the
maximum pilot pressure in the circuit.

Flow from the pilot system is used to operate the following different functions on the M300
Excavators:
• Activate all hydraulic control valves and automatic engine control pressure switches.
• Generate power shift pressure for the swing pump and the main hydraulic pump.
Pilot manifold (1) is located on the fuel tank or to the right of the walkway that is behind the cab.
Pilot flow control valve (2) is located on top of the pilot manifold. The flow control valve directs 15
L/min (4 US gpm) of flow from the brake pilot pump to the pilot system. The pilot manifold is the
distribution point for all flow from the brake pilot pump.

(E) Control valve for transmission shift brake or parking brake control valve
The pilot circuit is divided into the following four groups: main pump circuit and swing pump circuit,
pilot control valve circuits, swing brake circuits and travel creeper speed solenoid valve circuit.
Part of the pilot pump oil goes to the swing pump and main pumps. When the main pump delivery
pressure of main and swing pumps is low, the pilot oil flow is supplied to the swashplates for
optimum pump output flow.
Pilot pump oil flows from the pilot filter through the pilot oil manifold to the main pump proportional
reducing valve and swing pump proportional reducing valves. The last proportional reducing valves
will create main pump power shift pressures and swing power shift pressures. The power shift
pressure affects the main pump regulator and the swing pump regulator. These regulators determine
the pump delivery flow. Refer to Systems Operation, "Main Pump" and Systems Operation, "Swing
Pump".
The pilot pump supplies oil through the pilot filter and the implement activation solenoid valve and to
the following components:
• Boom
Pilot pump oil flows to the travel activation solenoid and to the travel pilot control valve from the
pilot oil filter.
Pilot oil goes to the main control valve that is selected. This shifts the stem in the control valve in
order to operate a cylinder and/or a travel motor.
Pilot oil goes to the swing pump servo control valve. This shifts the servo piston in order to control
the pump swashplate. The machine will swing in the corresponding direction. Refer to Systems
Operation, "Swing Pump".
When the pilot oil goes through the swing pump pressure reducing valve, the pressure switch for
swing AEC is activated. Now, load signals are sent to the electronic controller. When no pilot oil is
supplied to the pressure switch, the pressure switch turns off. Now, no load signals are sent to the
electronic controller. Refer to Service Manual, SENR6265.
When pilot oil goes to the boom circuit or to the stick circuit, the boom drift reduction valve and/or
the stick drift reduction valve loses drift reduction function.
The pilot pump supplies pilot oil through the swing brake solenoid valve to the swing brake motor in
order to release the swing brake. When the swing brake is depressed, pilot pressure is released in
order to engage the swing brake.
When the travel speed control switch is placed in the creeper speed position, the creeper speed
solenoid valve is energized in order to allow pilot pump oil to flow to the transmission. The travel
speed changes to creeper speed.
