Marvel Is Better Than DC

For nearly a century, Marvel and DC have set the bar for the term 'superhero'. In fact, they have
created the term. These companies never cease to amaze with their forms of entertainment, and
in doing that, they have remained unparalleled by any other company. There have always been
comparisons between the two companies and who is better at what. I, the writer, will argue that
Marvel is leaps and bounds, better than DC and I am quite certain that it is a very popular
opinion at that.
Marvel are clearly better writers than DC in terms of movies. Marvel, over the last decade and a
half, has become the kingpin of the box office, just by looking at how accredited the movies are
and how much they gross, whereas unfortunately, DC is extremely far from Marvel's kind of
success. Marvel movies are loved and appreciated by many (including myself), when DC are
receiving bad reviews for their movies. A standout movie out of DC's collection, Justice League,
would gross around 600 or 700 million dollars, whereas Marvel's standout movie is the second-
highest grossing film of all time, with a whopping 2.789 billion dollars being grossed globally.
Marvel's characters are far more relatable than DC's. Marvel brings realism to a fantasy world to
allow fans to connect to their movies as much as they did. Marvel has more realistic characters in

terms of their personalities and consequences, which makes comics and movies more intriguing,
whereas DC's characters are generally known for being overpowered, hence their comics and
movies are very predictable. An example of unpredictability from Marvel was Avengers Infinity
War, where shockingly, the villain had won, whereas in DC's Justice League, they had brought
Super-Man from his death with a strange cube and people expected the return as DC were
reluctant to show a hero's vulnerability and sacrifice to be justified as a hero. Seemingly, DC see
Marvel's choice of characters and their use is more diverse than DC's. Marvel has countless
comics, movies and spinoffs on unique or relatively unknown characters that fans get to know
more of and to be excited about, allowing fans to fantasize with Marvel’s infinite depth of
characters' connections to each other, making their entertainment lineup more unique than DC's.
Marvel also brings light to all kinds of communities and cultures around the world and these
communities are somewhat inspired by these heroes, such as Black Panther and Shang-Chi and
the Legend of the Ten Rings, whereas DC repeats movies with the same characters, such as
Batman, Super-Man and Wonder Woman, making fans question the depth and the lifetime of DC
entertainment with their reluctance to add new characters. This might be the reason as to why the
movies are not grossing well, as fans might want new characters to learn about and enjoy.
In conclusion, Marvel regularly delivers, while DC upsets. In this day of age, it is clear that
Marvel is more dominant that DC and it was not as tight as it used to be. The perceptions of
superheroes have changed over many years and Marvel has been able to keep up with what
everyone wants. While DC are sticking to their once flawless recipe, the ingredients have

reached their expiry date. I hope I was able to convince you if you were not convinced already,
