I. PREWRITING:
Look at the pictures form an orange juice plant. Then, number the
steps below in the correct order.

Exercise 1:

Now write 5 sentences to describe any process related to your careeer.


Passive voice: it is used to show that the SUBJECT is receiving
the action of a verb. It commonly used when describing a process.
Affirmative forms: Form the passive voice using the appropriate form of BE + the PAST
PARTICIPLE of the main verb.

Change the following sentences from ACTIVE to PASSIVE. Do not


change the tense.

How to end a conversation
1) Explain that you
need to leave or
that you have to
get back to your
friends.

legitimate reason.

the conversation.

How to make a pizza
1) First get some yeast and a pan.

2) Turn on your bread machine.

3) Put flour, yeast into bread machine.

4) Take out in 30 min to an hour

5) Smash tomatoes, open can put spices on


pizza.

6) Open cheese bag sprinkle on sauce.

7) Put topping of your choice on the pizza.

How to get
free drinks.
1) Find a target.
2) Place yourself next to the target,
and maybe lean on the counter with one elbow.
3) Start a conversation with the target, flirt slightly,
ask target what he is drinking.
4) When target offers you a drink, only hesitate slightly,
tease target a little perhaps, and then agree to accept a drink.
How to
get a date

1) Find someone you like.


2) Get to know him/her a little, start with an interesting
conversation.
3) Compliment him/her from time to time, but don't be
obsessive about it.
4) Say things to make him/her feel interested in you.
5) If he/she shows interest, say it would be nice to meet
him/her better, and invite him/her to go out.
6) If he/she accepts the invitation, say "OK, I'll see you
then”.
II. ORGANIZING:
EXERCISE 1:

Think about your career. Write 5 Sentences where you summarize a


process of any
area of it. Use passive voice and sequence adverbs.

Example:

JOB: THE LESSON PLANNING PROCESS.


PROCESS: First, the lesson must be researched.
Next, the exercises are designed.
Then, the exercises are organized.
After that, the class explanation and exercises are
put together.
Finally, all the lesson has to be checked before it is
being taught.

Exercise 2: Put your sentences together in a paragraph.


PEER REVIEW:
Exchange papers with another student and answer these
questions about your partner’s first draft:

• Does the writer give the name of the process? Is there any additional
information you would like to know about the process?

• Does the writer explain how is the process made? Are there any steps
missing? Are all the steps clear? If not, underline the parts that are not clear.

• Does the writer include explanations after each step?

• Does the writer use PASSIVE VOICE and SEQUENCE ADVERBS when
describing the process? If not, underline the sentences where the writer
can use them.

• Does the writer use the correct punctuation marks? If not, circle the
incorrect punctuation marks.
FINAL DRAFT CHECK LIST.
