4. Responsibility:
4.1 The Site Safety Supervisor (SSS) is responsible for proper storage, handling and disposal
of hazardous chemical or substance.
4.2 The Safety & Health Officer (SHO)/ WSH Committee (SHC) are responsible for regular
monitoring legal requirement.
4.3 The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for identifying the hazardous material to be
used at different construction phases and shall inform SHO/ SHC to take necessary
precaution.
5. Procedure :
5.1.1 The PM shall identify the hazardous chemicals / materials that have to be used at
different construction phases.
5.1.2 If a controlled hazardous substance is to be used, PM shall apply for the relevant
permit from the Ministry of the Environment.
5.1.3 SHO/ SHC shall keep a register for list of chemicals, identify the hazard
associated with the chemicals/ materials, it’s impact on environment from Safety
Data Sheet (SDS/MSDS) and shall summaries it into a table form and
communicate such hazards and impacts to all workers and sub-contractors
through monthly meeting / tool box meeting. A copy of SDS/MSDS shall be
kept for site reference.
5.3.1 The Safety Health Committee members (PM/ SHO/ SHC and representative
from sub-contractors) shall manage the hazardous materials through:-
