3.CONCLUSION and RECOMMENDATION

As requested, our service team has attended to vessel at Istanbul anchorage.

The reason for the attendance was overhaul of alpha lubricators and “Health Check” of System.

In summary below jobs carried out:

1. All lubricator units overhauled with Owner supply spare parts.

2. Supply pumps overhauled with Owner supplied spare parts including spider coupling
replacement.

3. Supply unit suction and pressure filters replaced.

4. Health check of the system carried out.

5. Lubrication of cylinder liner observed during test sequence and observed all lubrication
quills working in good order.

6. All accumulators replaced after adjusting the pressures.

2.PICTURES
• Overhaul of Lubricators

• All lubricators (7 pcs) dismantled from engine in order to carry out overhaul. Lubricators
disassembled for inspection, cleaning and renewal the necessary parts.

• Springs and actuator pistons with plungers inspected for any wear, abnormality. Surface of
internal parts found free of damaged.

• Adjusting screws with bushings inspected and found satisfactory. Bushing height
corresponding to stroke of lubricator measured 13 mm. The O-ring of adjusting screw was
renewed.

• Piston diameter measured as 3,0 mm.

Alpha Lube System Health Check

• Software of system (Version 2.55) was downloaded from MCU Card to PC.

• Timing of cylinder lubrication checked from lubrication non-return valve (quill) hole. The
engine was turned until the upper edge of the top piston ring becomes visible and crank
angle was noted on the turning wheel for all units. Normal parameters compared with the
timing degrees in the software and found same.

• System started from both local control panel and remote control. All system checked by
activating the pre-lubrication function for any abnormality such as leakage, signal failure
etc. All parts were found in acceptable condition.

• The connections checked by activating the lubricators one by one via the HMI panel
connection test menu.

• Pick up sensors checked and found in good order.

• Cylinder lubrication checked through scavenge manifold and found all nozzles injecting
properly. Video will be sent by WeTransfer.

REMARK:

Since all fuel pump indexes are around 3-5 index while engine at stop condition, we have adjusted
NO:7 fuel pump index to 0 and all adjustments done based on this pump index.

3.CONCLUSION and RECOMMENDATION

1. Cylinder lubrication system found in good order.

2. Ship crew to calculate theoretical cylinder oil consumption by Str.hi+Str.lo and compare with actual
daily consumption. This is main parameter if your system working properly.

3. In connection of item-2, parameters adjusted in running in mode as consumption is 2gr/kwh,

however piston rings look clean considering this excessive feed rate adjustment. Calculation will
show if adjustment and actual consumption is same.

4. While engine is at stop condition, fuel leakages observed from some of the fuel pump index.
Also, one of the fuel pump umbrella seal observation glass removed and observed fuel
leakages to under pump area. Excessive hard deposit accumulation observed at same area.

Above shows excessive clearance between pump barrel and plunger which will affect the
combustions.

Another risk is hardened fuel dilution to system oil due to hardened umbrella seals.

Therefore we are strongly recommend overhaul of fuel pumps including replacing of

umbrella seals.
