Earlier this week our our Year 7 Student Leaders were presented
with their leadership badges. I congratulate all of these students
who are acknowledged below, and I look forward to hearing about
their positive contribution to the College in their role as Student
Leader.
God Bless,
College Calendar
Students will only be required to attend school for their examination/assessment times, and should
now be well into their revision schedule in preparation for these assessments. Students need to attend
their Examinations/assessments in normal winter uniform.
Students will attend school as normal and follow regular bell times. During times when examinations
are not scheduled, students will either be engaging in regular classes, or be given study periods in
order to prepare for upcoming examinations.
God Bless,
Mr Peter Sackett - Deputy Principal Curriculum | Year 11 & 12

On Tuesday 28 May the Year 7 Student Leadership Team leaders were announced to the Year 7 cohort
and the Year 11 Peer Support Leaders.
All students who nominated are to be commended on the interview process. Unsuccessful candidates
are encouraged to reapply in future years.
The successful students now have the privileged task of leading their respective House groups.
Congratulations to the following students:
These students will be presented to the College Community at our next whole school assembly on
Tuesday 2 July.
As part of the Year Eight Religion Course, each student was gifted a set
of blessed Rosary beads in conjunction with their study of Marian
Devotion. Brother Sheldon’s presentations were a great success,
engaging the students in the miracles and apparitions of Our Lady, the
Mysteries of the Rosary and presenting both how and why the Rosary is
prayed.
CATALYST PROGRAM
The Year 7-10 Catalyst students recently participated in the Big Science
Competition which is an International competition that promotes and
encourages critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Most of our
students completed this task in three quarters of the time given for the
Quiz.
Whilst focusing on their year-long Science and Technology Projects, the Science and Mathematics
Catalyst students will have the opportunity later on this week to participate in an activity organised
and run by Dr John Goldsmith, an Astrofest award winner and internationally renowned astronomy
photographer. This will be a perfect opportunity for students to extend their understanding of the
Earth, Cosmology and astronomy as well as using photography and art to consolidate their scienti c
understanding.
Dr John Goldsmith is the Director and Developer of Celestial Visions which is inspired by the cosmos,
culture and landscape. It is a consultancy, research and astro-imaging and panoramic photography
resource centre. He recently attended and won a prestigious award at the AstroFest in Romania and is
very knowledgeable on all matters pertaining to Aboriginal Australian Astronomy and science.
The photos above are of Mr Cornish’s Year 7/8 combined Catalyst class working on their project.
Last week, the Mystery Skype club had their rst successful call to
another classroom somewhere in the world. Mystery Skype is an activity
where students connect through Skype and play 20 questions (Yes or No
answers) to try and work out where each other are located.
In the end, the partner class guessed we were in Australia on their eighth question. We took a couple
more questions to work out that our partner school was located in South Korea. We then had some
time to ask questions about each country and we shared some footage of what it was like outside –
the South Korean Class couldn’t believe the space we had as their school was multi story.
We are looking forward to completing more Mystery Skypes this year and collecting the kilometres
travelled throughout the year.

Time management is a great quality of any successful student. Managing our time wisely helps us
balance our daily lives and gives us more structure and moments to partake in the activities we enjoy.
In order to encourage our students to maximise their time in the classroom and manage their time
effectively we have requested all students access Student Services either before school, recess,
lunch or after school each day. Students will need to remember this if they need to print, copy, or
request paracetamol or antihistamine. Student Services is open daily between 8:00am to 4:00pm.
