MY HOBBIES

Even if you practice them to pursue a career of it or just to relax your mind after a
stressful day, hobbies are an important part of everyone`s life. They help you
develop your personality and discover what you like.
As I am a teenager, you may think that my whole life, including hobbies, is
revolving around technology. You`d be surprised to find out that the list with my
favourite activities doesn`t stop there. But, why don`t you convince yourself of
that? Here are some hobbies that I practice regularly.
During the week, while my mind is pretty busy with school, homework and mostly
studying, I don`t have so many time to spend on other activities. But, I still save
some minutes every evening to listen to music, as it`s my favourite thing to do. I
also check daily on my friends, we talk on the phone or we meet up for an hour or
so and talk about everything that`s on our mind. Also, on the days when teachers
don`t give us too much to work I like to spend my afternoon drawing or sketching.
I am not brilliant at it, but I am slowly getting there.
When the weekend comes, I am beyond excited. Every Saturday I like going to
one of the local parks or in the forest near our town and spend time in the nature.
I take millions of pictures, dance around or just lay down on the grass and form
this pure connection with the nature. It makes me feel so inspired and happy. I
also like to hang out with my friends, go to a walk, ride our bikes or skate down
the streets. Saturday evenings are for the movies. I grab my laptop and search
until I find a title that makes me curious. My favourites are the horror and sf
movies, but I wouldn`t mind watching any other genre if I didn`t have a choice. I
watch movies until late night and sometimes I invite my family to join me. On
Sunday I study for the next school day. After that, I spend my afternoon editing
pictures or writing. In my mind, I always have these weird storyline ideas or just
short poems and I like to write them down in a notebook that I carry with me
everywhere. On a Sunday evening, all I want to do is to grab a book, tuck in my
armchair and read. I could read a book for hours without getting bored.
When holidays arrive I already have a huge list with activities that I want to do
until the school starts again. With all this time on my hands, I don`t even know
what to begin with. First, I make sure that all my holiday homework is done. Then,
as I am a big fan of home decor, I plan some changes so I can give my room a new,
fresh look. During summer, I take swimming lessons and during winter I practice
ski, two sports that I am purely in love with since I was a little girl. Near important
dates like Christmas or Easter you will only find me in stores, buying presents for
my family and friends. I also cook some specific meals as gastronomy was always
something I was very passionate about. And, of course, travelling is my favourite
thing to do during holidays, no matter if the destination is an exotic country or
just my grandma`s house who lives 50 kilometers away. The feeling you have
while you are in the car or the train, thinking that the Sun and the Moon are
following you and having a race with the trees that are remaining behind it`s so
simple, yet so magical. I also like to spend my summer nights playing guitar under
the moonlight, it makes me feel like I am on top of the world.
Now that I sit here and think about it, I can`t see my life without these hobbies. It
may sound childish, but it`s true. For me, these activities are very benefic for my
mental health and I consider them vital for a healthy lifestyle.
