Answer: A computer is a general purpose electronic device that can be

programmed to carry out a set of arithmetic or logical operations automatically. It is
used to process data and consists of a central processing unit (CPU) and memory.

Answer: 1)Takes data as input.

2)Stores the data or instructions in its memory and use them when required
3)Processes the data and converts it into useful information.
4)Generates the output.
5)Communication.

Answer: Data are the raw facts (texts, numbers, sounds, and images) with no
meaning on its own which can be organized into files and are stored using the binary
number system from which information is derived. And when data is processed,
organized, structured or presented in a given context so as to make it useful, it is called
information.
Answer: It is a case containing electronic components of the computer that are used
to process data. The two main components of the motherboard is: Processor (CPU)
and Memory.

Answer:1) Keyboard-input
2) Scanner-input
3) Monitor / Screen-output
4) Printer-output
5) Hard disks, CDs and DVDs.-storage

Answer: Communication device is a hardware component that enables a computer

to send and receive data, instructions and information. Occurs over cables,
telephone lines, cellular radio networks, satellites and other transmission media.

Answer: Computers are powerful because they can process information with
incredible speed, accuracy and dependability. They can efficiently perform input,
process, output and storage operations, and can store massive amounts of data.
’GIGO’ (garbage in, garbage out) is that the quality of output is determined by the
quality of the input. So it means, if an incorrect data is input to a program, the output
is unlikely to be informative.
Answer: Computer software also called a program consists of a series of
instructions that tells the computer what to do and how to do it. The two types of
computer software are: 1) System software – eg:Operating system (OS) and
2) Application software – eg: Word processing. “GUI” (graphical user interface)
allows us to interact with the software using graphics and visual images such as
icons and also controls how we enter data and instructions and how the screen
displays information.

Answer: Programmer is someone who develops an application or a system

software. Programmer writes the instructions to direct the computer to process data
into information. Two examples of programming language includes – Java and C++.

Answer: The difference between midrange servers and mainframe computers is that
the midrange servers function as stand-alone personal computers where
mainframes are a network hosts (supports thousands of connected users) .Each
virtual server can run multiple operating system requests at the same time. And
supercomputers are the most expensive, fastest and most powerful ones used for
applications requiring complex mathematical calculations.
