Transformer was energized with power frequency 50 Hz. Burden and primary voltage were
calculated to simulate the thermal losses at rated frequency 60 Hz.
The test object was energized until it reached the steady state (1 K/h). The secondary windings
were connected in series (150 kVA / 625 A) and loaded with equivalent burden.

The temperature of the top oil was measured with thermocouple immersed to approximately
5 cm below the top oil surface. The temperature rise of secondary windings was measured by
the increase of resistance. Winding resistances were measured by U-I method and
extrapolated to the moment of loading end.

Ambient temperature was measured with two thermocouples placed in oil containers (0,5 l).
Thermocouple layout is given in Annex 1.
Test results:
a) Initial state
Average ambient temperature: 17,2 ºC
Top oil temperature: 18,2 ºC

Winding Winding resistance / Ω

H1 – H0 74,05
X1 – Y2 0,00234

b) Test results at equivalent voltage 60 kV and equivalent burden 130 kVA

Average ambient temperature: 17,7 ºC
Top oil temperature: 69,9 ºC (temperature rise 51,8 K)

Winding Winding resistance / Ω Temperature rise / K

H1 – H0 91,35 59,6
X1 – Y2 0,00286 56,8

According to the test results, transformer has passed the temperature rise test.
