1. Do you think the selection for spoken-word poetry tells a story? Why? Yes, because spoken word poetry tells a story of the person’s feeling, emotions and experiences
2. What is the purpose of the repetition of phrases in this spoken-word poetry?
The purpose of the repetition of phrases is to emphasize the feeling or idea, to create a rhythm and to develop the sense of urgency.
3. Do they have the same tone? Describe the tone of the two selections. No, because the tone of a folktale is narrative and does not assert anything, whereas spoken word poetry does and uses ton
4. Compare the values orientation showed in each selection.
The folktales is about masculinity versus feminity while the spoken word poetry is human relationship
5. How do the selections resemble life?
In my opinion, Princess Urduja which is in the first selection resembles life by means of being bright, bold and self-reliant despite the fact that she is a woman, where it simply states there that regardless of our gender, we are capable of doing anything as long as were ready to put up an effort on it.
Then in the second selection which is a spoken word poetry entitled by “ ang huling tula na isusulat ko pra sayo’ resemble life that there are sometimes we fell inlove with someone who can’t love us back so the right thing to do is to accept that.
