My Memorable Vacation

A memorable vacation is one you’ll never forget. It’s a non-forgettable memory you store in your

heart. One of my most memorable vacations for me was our family summer vacation to Cape

May, New Jersey.

There’s so many things that I love about Cape May, something about it is so charming and sweet

to me. Maybe it’s the Victorian beach house that we stay in that I love so much, all the houses on

the street are painted these pretty pastel colors with white trim and shutters, it reminds of a

cottage. Or maybe it’s the amazing shops they have…watch shops, wallet shops, soap shops,

vintage clothing and hat shops (my personal favorite). Or maybe it’s the thing Cape May is known

so well for, its amazing beaches! The beach house is only a block away from the most gorgeous

beach I’ve ever seen. I’m not quite sure what I love best about Cape May, it’s probably a

combination of all these things actually.

But the thing I’m going to talk about right now is the beach…because that’s what made this family

vacation so memorable for me. It was the first day of our vacation, I woke up that morning feeling

all refreshed from traveling so much the day before. The sun was shining through the window

beside my bed and there was a beautiful blue sky, perfect for the beach I thought to myself. So I

quickly got up, threw my hair in a messy bun, had my coffee and ate breakfast and then I was off

to the beach! As I walked onto the dock I could hear the beautiful sound of seagulls and the

crashing waves against the sand, I could feel the sun and the crisp breeze blowing against my face,

and in every direction you looked was clear, bright blue water. I put my towel down and felt the

sand between my toes, and then walked slowly into the ice cold water. As soon as my feet hit the

water a chill ran down my spine, but I walked further and further trying to get used to the freezing

water. I got to where the water was about at my shoulder and then stopped, me and about 4

other people were the only ones in the water. As I was standing there I just splashed the water

and tried not to think about the movie Jaws…but as I looked up I realize that everybody’s pointing

at something, I tried not to panic because the direction everybody was pointing was at me. And

as I turned around I saw the most beautiful thing…dolphins!!! They were less than 6 feet away

from me, jumping and flipping out of the water. It was so amazing. I probably could’ve gotten

closer but as I watched them I felt as if I was frozen in place, I’ll never forget it, it didn’t even seem

real. I watched them as they jumped farther and farther away until they were out of sight. I smiled

and started walking back up the beach to where my family was so I could tell them what just

happened.

I don’t understand how people can look around them and wonder if there is a

creator…it seems so obvious to me. The world is such a beautiful place and full of such beautiful

things.
