    The Single Molecule Mechanobiology Laboratory (SMML) is currently seeking skilled,


    motivated, talented, and team-oriented a postdoctoral fellow and graduate students (Ph.D. or
    Combined master’s and doctorate program). Our lab is funded by the SAMSUNG Science &
    Technology Foundation and the National Research Foundation in Korea.

    Project description:

    High-throughput single bio-molecule detection system in micro/nanofluidic platform


    We develop a novel micro/nanofluidic platform for high-throughput single molecule study. The
    application of single molecule analytical techniques has enabled the study of many previously under-
    investigated biological phenomena. Despite many strengths, the use of the single molecule techniques has
    been limited mainly due to the low efficiency and non-specific binding on the surface. To solve such
    problems, we focus on fabrication of micro/nanofluidic platform with enhanced surface passivation. Our
    micro/nanofluidic platforms represent a technology capable of exploiting micro/nano-confinement for the
    increased detection sensitivity even with smaller sample volumes as well as the retention of biologically
    relevant molecules at concentration ranges necessary for the study of protein interactions and enzymatic
    activity (> µM). This technology will be utilized to develop rapid diagnosis kit for COVID19, HIV,
    and influenza.

    1) Qualification
    We welcome applicants from diverse educational and research backgrounds in optics, physics, chemistry,
    and material science.

    For the Graduate student, anyone who has degree in life science or engineering.
    Min English scores: (TOEFL [PBT (550), CBT (210), IBT (80), ITP (550), IELTS (5.5), TEPS (600), and
    TOEIC (700)].
    Min GPA: 3.5/4.5

    2) Salary and benefits

    For the Graduate student,


    + Full-time scholarship
    + Stipend (1,000,000 won/month or higher)
    + Expenses for international conference (once/year)
    + Annual Bonus

    3) Admission
    Fall semester 2022 (Application should be prepared by the end of April 2022).
