1. Course Description
This course is a basic introduction to computers for all the students in the university. The course
aims to combine a mixture of straight forward teaching with practical hands-on experience in
order to demystify computers and their use.
Learning outcomes:
At the end of this course, students will:
ii. Be able to work with any word processing and spreadsheet application.
iii. Know the relevance of computing knowledge to their respective courses of study.

4. Course Content
The first assignment is mandatory and covers introductory material. Students are required to
work in groups and to present their findings in class. Students then sit for their first test which
covers introductory material. They are expected to sit for a second theory test which will assess
their knowledge in word processing and spreadsheet applications. The best done of the two
tests is considered for assessment. To assess their practical skills students will be given a
practical test that covers the basics of word processing and spreadsheet applications. This
practical test is also mandatory.

Students are encouraged to uphold an ethical standard in computing, which includes: Respect
of the privacy of others’ information; Recognition of other people’s ideas; Respect of Software
patents and copyright laws. Students are encouraged to apply computer knowledge to all areas
of life and ministry in such a way as to enhance the positive development of their particular
profession in the context of God’s Kingdom on earth.
