1. What is sociolinguistics based on your own understanding ?


As what I read in some books. Linguistics is a field of study that makes language an object of
study. Linguistics is divided into two namely micro linguistics that studies the internal structure
of language and macro linguistics that study the structure of the external language. Macro
linguistics directs its study to language relation with factors outside language because language
is an indispensable phenomenon of all human activities in society, while the activity is very
broad. Therefore, the branch of macro linguistics becomes very much, one of them is
SOCIOLINGUISTICS.
Linguistics is the field that studies the relation between language and society, between the uses
of language and the social structures in which the users of language live.

2. Prove that there is a very close relationship between language and society !
It si very close. Language is one tool to interact with other people. So the language can not be
separated with humans. With the existence of our language we can relate to other communities
that eventually gave birth to communication in society.
In society, the function of language as a verbal communication tool used by community to
communicate.
So, if language does noe exist, how society speaks ?
And language function is not only as a communicate tool or as a convey thoughts . when viewed
from a different point of view, language is very useful to society.

3. Dialect is a form of language that people speak in a particular part of country or by a particular
group of people, containing some different words and grammar.

There is no big differentce from it, as we know sociolinguistics discusses the diversity of
language based on the use of language in social environment and the users of their own
language. The diversity of language is the diversity that occurs due to regional factors that are
often called dialect.
